Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Windows desktop applications using C#, .NET, WPF and MVVM.
• Develop communication modules to read and write data from industrial PLCs.
• Connect to PLC platforms such as Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens and Beckhoff.
• Map PLC registers, tags and data points to application objects and user interfaces.
• Retrieve machine status, alarms, production counts, recipes and process parameters from PLCs.
• Write commands, parameters or control values to PLCs where required and authorised.
• Implement reliable polling, event handling, reconnection, timeout and communication error recovery.
• Integrate PLC data with databases, MES, EAP, SCADA or other factory systems.
• Develop equipment monitoring applications using PLCs, sensors and industrial devices.
• Review existing PLC programs to locate relevant registers, tags and machine signals.
• Troubleshoot software-to-PLC communication, data mapping and network issues.
• Support system testing, commissioning, deployment and customer-site activities.
• Prepare PLC data maps, interface specifications and technical documentation.

Mandatory Requirements

• Hands-on professional experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
• Hands-on experience developing Windows desktop applications using WPF and MVVM.
• Practical experience connecting C# applications to PLCs for reading and writing data.
• Experience with at least two PLC brands, preferably Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens or Beckhoff.
• Familiarity with PLC registers, tags, data blocks, memory areas and data types.
• Experience with one or more PLC communication methods such as MC Protocol, SLMP, FINS, S7, ADS, OPC UA or Modbus TCP
• Able to diagnose PLC connectivity, addressing, byte-order, data-conversion and communication issues.
• Able to understand existing PLC programs sufficiently to identify the data required for software integration.

About the role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our mobile app teams at Dyson. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of technical excellence, team development, and stakeholder management.

You will be responsible for driving the delivery of high-quality mobile experiences while building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team. You are equally comfortable contributing to technical discussions, guiding architecture decisions, and working closely with cross-functional partners to deliver impact.

Our Tech
Our mobile apps are built using modern native technologies across Android and iOS, with a strong emphasis on scalability, modular architecture, and maintainability.

On Android, we use Kotlin with MVVM architecture, Jetpack libraries, and coroutines for asynchronous programming. On iOS, we follow modern Swift-based development practices with well-defined architectural patterns.

We integrate with cloud services using robust networking layers and work closely with IoT platforms to deliver seamless connected experiences.

Our teams place a strong emphasis on testing, code quality, and continuous improvement of our development practices and tooling.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading and mentoring a team of mobile engineers, supporting their growth, performance, and career development

• Driving delivery of features and improvements, ensuring high standards of quality, scalability, and reliability

• Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including product, design, QA, and engineering teams across cloud and embedded domains

• Owning technical direction and contributing to architecture and design decisions

• Remaining hands-on where needed, contributing to code, reviews, and problem-solving

• Balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term technical health and maintainability

• Establishing and improving engineering processes, practices, and team ways of working

• Communicating effectively with stakeholders to align on priorities, timelines, and outcomes

About you

• You have strong experience in native mobile development (Android and/or iOS), with a solid understanding of modern architectures and best practices

• You have experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a focus on building high-performing, collaborative teams

• You are comfortable operating across both technical and people leadership responsibilities

• You have experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and aligning engineering work with product goals

• You bring a pragmatic approach to delivery, balancing speed with quality and long-term sustainability

• You have strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering complex features or systems

• You are passionate about engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and team culture

• You are comfortable being hands-on and contributing technically when needed
