About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Workplace Safety and Health Officer to oversee and manage all Safety, Health, and Environmental functions for electrical, power, and infrastructure projects in Singapore.
This role is suitable for candidates with strong experience in workplace safety, health, and environmental management within construction, infrastructure, electrical, power, rail, or large scale engineering project environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements, client specifications, and company procedures, while supporting safe and efficient project delivery across all site activities.
The position offers the opportunity to play a key role in major rail and infrastructure projects and to contribute to the development of a strong safety culture, effective environmental control, and consistent regulatory compliance on site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety, Health & Environmental Management
- Oversee and implement workplace safety, health, and environmental measures at project sites in accordance with statutory requirements, client standards, and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with WSH regulations, environmental requirements, project specifications, and internal procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the project team in maintaining a strong safety culture and proper environmental controls across all work activities.
- Promote good safety awareness and safe work practices among site personnel, subcontractors, and project teams.
2. Site Inspection, Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental non compliance issues.
- Recommend, implement, and monitor corrective and preventive actions to address safety and environmental observations.
- Monitor subcontractors’ compliance with project safety and environmental requirements and ensure timely follow up on rectification matters.
- Ensure site activities are carried out in accordance with approved safety measures, environmental controls, and applicable regulations.
3. Reporting, Investigation & Documentation
- Prepare, maintain, and submit safety and environmental reports, records, registers, and related documentation.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental complaints, and prepare the necessary reports and follow up actions.
- Maintain proper records of inspections, findings, corrective actions, training activities, incident investigations, and compliance related matters.
- Support the preparation of safety and environmental submissions required by clients, consultants, management, and relevant authorities.
4. Training, Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, inductions, and relevant training for site personnel.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and relevant authorities on workplace safety, health, and environmental matters.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and site teams to ensure SHE requirements are fully integrated into project execution.
- Provide guidance and practical support to site teams on compliance, safe work practices, and environmental control measures.
Requirements
- Candidate must be registered as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer in Singapore.
- Candidate must be certified as an Environmental Control Officer in Singapore.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction, infrastructure, electrical, power, rail, or large scale engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of local WSH regulations, environmental requirements, and site practices in Singapore.
- Proven experience in managing safety, health, and environmental functions in complex project environments.
- Good understanding of statutory compliance, incident investigation, site inspection practices, and corrective action follow up.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem solving skills.
- Able to work independently and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in preparing reports, records, compliance documents, and SHE related submissions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in LTA or other public sector infrastructure projects will be a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with electrical and power infrastructure project requirements will be an advantage.
- Additional relevant safety, health, or environmental certifications will be an advantage.
- Experience in rail, metro, MRT, power supply, or regulated infrastructure project environments will be beneficial.
