Job Scope For Engine Technician

Engine technician, maintain and repair machinery on vessel. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems with the instructions from supervisor. Engine technician must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.

The main job scopes were as follow.

• Familiarity with parts and components of engines, gearbox and machinery as well as the tools to fix them.
• (knowledge on 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine)
• Follow repair procedure and instruction from supervisor to carry out overhauling of components and provide great customer service
• Perform routine maintenance and general technical work on engine.
• Ensure overhauling of engine/machines meets vessel planned schedule.
• Ensure safety during work assignment.
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction manual.
• Maintain & Ensure instrumentation devices with valid certificate and in good operating condition before use. (All lifting equipment and working tools)
• Report problems or concerns to supervisor immediately
• Accomplish organization mission by completing related results as needed
• A positive “can do” attitude to achieve company’s goals.

Requirements:

• Requires an ITE/Diploma certificate or its equivalent.
• Preferred with relevant experience within the engine overhaul industry, but not mandatory.
• Able to work well in a team with good interpersonal skills.
• Works under moderate supervision.
• On job training will be provided.
• For candidate who have a higher experience will be considered to a senior role.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of navigation system projects, including installation, retrofit, and commissioning of ECDIS and radar systems aboard SOLAS vessels.
• Provide on‑site and remote technical support during installation phases, troubleshooting hardware and software integration issues to minimize vessel downtime.
• Conduct training sessions for internal teams, partners, and vessel crews to ensure proficiency with ChartWorld systems.
• Perform system configuration, quality checks, and final testing to ensure installations meet IMO/IEC compliance and company quality standards.
• Collaborate with Sales and Operations teams to define project scope, manage timelines, and ensure smooth transition from sale to service.
• Maintain accurate project records, installation logs, and service reports in CRM and project management tools.
• Frequent domestic and international travel for vessel visits, yard periods, and partner support

What We Need From You

• Maritime industry experience (essential)
• Minimum 3 years in a technical engineering role, preferably with ECDIS and bridge navigation equipment
• Hands‑on experience with radar installation and digital chart data (ENC/SENC) – highly desirable
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues under pressure
• Knowledge of MS Office (essential) and familiarity with CRM applications
• Ability and willingness to travel (domestic and international)

This role is a full fledge Service Engineer, support the business in Bintulu for MRP contracts and transactional sale. This role will be based in Bintulu.
