The Role

We are looking for a passionate, guest-focused Sommelier to be at the heart of auterra's wine experience. You will guide guests through our carefully curated selection, build lasting relationships with collectors and enthusiasts, and actively contribute to the growth of both our wine bar and retail business. This is a role for someone who loves wine, loves people, and is ready to make a real impact in a growing, wine-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Wine Service

• Deliver personalised wine service that creates memorable experiences for every guest — from casual drinkers to serious collectors

• Recommend wines based on guest preferences, occasions, and budgets with confidence and warmth

• Present, open, decant, and serve wines to professional standards

• Share knowledge on producers, vintages, regions, and winemaking philosophies in an engaging and approachable way

• Build genuine long-term relationships with regular guests and private clients
  

Wine Sales & Retail

• Drive wine sales through thoughtful recommendations and genuine upselling

• Promote new arrivals, featured wines, rare allocations, and cellar selections

• Support the growth of Auterra's retail wine business — assisting guests with take-home purchases and cellar-building advice

• Develop relationships with private collectors and wine enthusiasts

• Support wine tastings, producer events, and special wine experiences
  

Cellar & Inventory

• Assist with receiving and checking wine deliveries

• Maintain cellar organisation and proper storage conditions

• Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs

• Participate in regular stocktakes and inventory reconciliation

• Ensure careful and correct handling of fine and rare wines
  

Venue Operations

• Support daily floor operations and maintain the presentation of wine displays, retail shelves, and guest areas

• Assist with opening and closing procedures

• Ensure all wine service equipment is maintained and in excellent condition
  

Requirements

Essential

• At least 1 year of experience in a sommelier, wine specialist, wine retail, or wine-focused hospitality role

• Solid knowledge of major wine regions — France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, and the United States

• Understanding of wine service, decanting, storage, and cellar management

• Strong communication and guest engagement skills

• A sales-oriented mindset — confident recommending wines across different price points
  

Preferred — not a dealbreaker

• WSET Level 2 or Level 3 certification, or Court of Master Sommeliers certification

• Experience in a wine bar, fine wine retail, or collector-focused environment

• Knowledge of Burgundy, Champagne, Rhône, Piedmont, Tuscany, Mosel, and other fine wine appellations

• Familiarity with grower Champagne, artisanal producers, and limited-allocation wines

We’re looking for a passionate and service-oriented individual to join our team as a Sommelier / Wine Service Associate. You’ll play a key role in creating memorable guest experiences through your knowledge, enthusiasm, and professionalism in wine and hospitality.

Responsibilities

1. Customer Experience & Service

• Greet and engage customers warmly, delivering genuine and attentive service.
• Recommend wines based on guests’ taste preferences and budget in a professional manner.
• Conduct tastings, share product knowledge, and maintain high hospitality standards.
• Support wine events, tastings, and private functions when required.

2. Sales & Retail Support

• Assist with daily retail operations and sales transactions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wine products, regions, and producers.
• Promote seasonal selections and special offerings to enhance customer experience.
• Ensure the store is organized, clean, and welcoming at all times.

3. Inventory & Operations

• Support daily stock checks, restocking, and labeling of products.
• Receive deliveries, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure proper storage conditions.
• Assist with merchandising displays and general opening and closing duties.

4. Learning & Development

• Participate in regular tasting sessions and internal training programmes.
• Continue to build knowledge in wines, regions, and service techniques.

Requirements

• Interest or basic knowledge in wine, service, and hospitality.
• Positive attitude, good communication skills, and willingness to learn.
• Prior experience in F&B, bar, or retail environment preferred but not required.
• Team player with responsibility, attention to detail, and customer focus.

• Strategic Brand Oversight: Support all channels within PIVENE and auterra, ensuring brand consistency and excellence across marketing, retail, partnerships, events, and other business functions.
• End-to-End Creative Ownership: Own the development and production of creative concepts and visuals. Translate business objectives into compelling brand storytelling and high-performing customer assets across both digital and physical touchpoints.
• Integrated Marketing Support: Contribute to marketing initiatives beyond execution, including campaign ideation, content direction, and performance-driven creative optimization. Actively support cross-functional campaigns across digital, retail, and partnership channels.
• Event Activation Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of event activations, ensuring cohesive visual presentation, brand alignment, and timely delivery of all creative materials.
• Stakeholder Partnership: Partner closely with internal teams (Sales, Retail Operations, Partnerships, Marketing) to manage multiple projects. Prioritize deliverables based on business impact, ensuring clear timeline planning and proactive communication.
• Production & Vendor Management: Liaise with external vendors, printers, and fabricators to ensure high-quality execution of physical deliverables. Key tasks include:
  > Sourcing cost-effective production solutions and comparing quotations.
  > Managing production timelines and coordinating logistics.
  > Conducting quality control through print sample reviews.
  > Ensuring outputs meet brand standards and budgetary constraints.
• Mentorship & Standards: Provide guidance and mentorship to design team members and interns, fostering strong design standards, efficient workflows, and continuous improvement in creative output.
• Operational Agility: Undertake additional ad-hoc tasks as required to support the Creative Team and broader business objectives, demonstrating a collaborative and proactive mindset.
