Job Summary

We are seeking to engage a passionate and resilient SW Teacher who is dedicated to inspiring and guiding students throughout their educational journey in NorthLight School. This role requires the display of sound pedagogical practices, proficiency in a myriad of Sports and Games, experience in Outdoor Education and a sound grounding in the principles of Strength, Fitness and Conditioning. Additionally, you will also lead and mentor students in their Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) which is pivotal innurturing their holistic growth and character development.

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver effective values-based SW lessons.
• Identify and design appropriate support structures, strategies, and learning resources to enhance student engagement.
• Develop instructional materials and lesson packages that cater to varied student profiles.
• Monitor, evaluate, and refine pedagogical approaches and modes of assessment to continuously improve student learning outcomes.
• Contribute actively to SW department initiatives, projects, and activities.
• Mentor and guide students in CCAs.
• Support School initiatives and directions.

Personal Competencies, Qualifications and Experiences

• Possesses a minimum qualification of at least a Diploma in Physical Education or Post Graduate Diploma in Education with Physical Education specialization.
• Has prior teaching experience ideally in a specialized or technical education school setting of at least 3 years.
• Possesses a resilient disposition and a keen passion for working with youth.
• A team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Deliver technical support within the Computer Labs and provide tailored instruction to individuals and small groups according to their learning needs.
• Develop instructional materials and lesson packages that cater to varied teaching formats.
• Monitor, evaluate, and refine teaching methods and support systems to continuously improve student learning outcomes.
• Contribute actively to ICT department initiatives, projects, andassessment activities.
• Mentor and guide students in CCAs, fostering teamwork, leadership, and resilience.

Personal Competencies, Experience, and Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: Diploma in Information Technology or an equivalent field.
• A recognised teaching qualification from institutions such as the National Institute of Education (NIE), International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International Education, or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, fundamental computing skills, video/audio editingtools, and basic programming.
• Prior teaching experience, ideally within a specialised or technical education setting.
• Demonstrated resilience and a strong passion for working with youth.
• Effective team player with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Preferred Attributes

• Teaching experience in a specialised or technical education setting.

Relief Teachers are responsible for taking attendance, marking assignments promptly using provided answer sheets, and recording results accurately.

In this role, you will inspire and equip students with essential vocational skills, workplace readiness, and positive learning attitudes through engaging and industry-relevant teaching. Beyond classroom instruction, you will also mentor students in co-curricular activities (CCA), supporting their holistic growth and character development.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Facility Services.
• Develop students’ technical knowledge and practical skills aligned with industry standards.
• Design and implement authentic learning experiences including hands-on activities and simulations.
• Assess and monitor student progress using both practical and theoretical evaluations.
• Maintain a safe, well-equipped, and conducive learning environment in classrooms.
• Apply effective classroom management strategies to support positive student behaviour and learning attitudes.
• Support students’ character development, work ethics, and employability skills.
• Mentor and guide students in CCAs, fostering teamwork, leadership, and resilience.
• Organise and supervise industry exposure programmes (e.g., internships, workplace visits).
• Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to strengthen curriculum delivery.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives and programmes that support holistic student development.
• Infuse personal passions and expertise into lessons to enrich students’ learning experiences.

Personal Competencies, Experience, and Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Building Services, Facilities Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in industry practice related to the subject, or teaching in a field that connects to the role
• Preferably with teaching qualification (e.g., PCTE, ACTEP) or willingness to undergo teacher training.
• Familiarity with workplace safety standards and practices.
• Strong communication skills, with a collaborative and learner-coaching approach
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Passion for working with youths and supporting their holistic development.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience in vocational training or applied learning environments.
• Recognised teaching certifications (e.g., PCTE, ACTEP).
• Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
