The role

This Service Management role is responsible for the maintenance, configuration and development of the Firm's IT Service Management tool, ServiceNow. This involves working within an agreed governance model to translate the requirements of process owners and other key contacts into a live implementation. There is an aggressive service management roadmap in play, which is aiming to deliver a number of self-service, automation and orchestration initiatives, and this role is crucial to the delivery of these initiatives using the tool.

What you will be responsible for

Support & Client Focus

• Help deliver the service management roadmap, which is aiming to deliver a number of self-service, automation and orchestration initiatives.
• Ensure that industry knowledge remains up to date.
• Scrutinise all requests for change to ensure that any work to the tool maximises value to the Firm and its clients.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all of the Firm's Service Management processes, and how those processes are integrated with the tool, to ensure that the impact of a change to one module is fully understood across all modules.
• Work with process owners, providing practical input and advice to help rationalise and improve stated requirements whilst at the same time ensuring that any changes do not detrimentally affect other modules or the system as a whole. 
• Be an escalation point for ServiceNow admins, as required, to resolve complex issues within OLA.
• As required, ensure technical documentation and training materials for ServiceNow admins remain current.
• Provide ad-hoc specialist training where required.
• Adhere to change management policies, process and procedures to ensure that any bug fixes and upgrades are thoroughly tested in the non-production environments before they are released to production.

Reporting

• Offer expert knowledge of how to build and develop reports from the tool.
• Build ad hoc reports for management upon request.

Systems Administration

• Perform workflow, data management, development and integrations in line with industry standard and Clifford Chance best practice.

Development & Testing.

• Support and, as required, manage the ServiceNow upgrade cycle.
• Utilise JavaScripting, HTML, CSS etc., as appropriate, to improve the performance and/or functionality of the tool and maximise value to the Firm and its clients.
• Work with internal and/or external development resources. Ensure that this in-house or 3rd party software integration works effectively with the tool and maximises value to the Firm and its clients.
• Produce and maintain a comprehensive testing protocol for the tool with the purpose of certifying all applications for use after changes have been deployed.
• Plan, perform and manage regular BCP tests for the ServiceNow platform.

Offshore Support

• Work with the wider Service Delivery team to ensure that the offshore support teams sufficiently dovetail with the London teams, helping to ensure that the split between onshore and offshore responsibilities is correct.
   

What you will do

On a day-to-day basis, the role will work on configuration and development tasks in the ServiceNow tool including, but not limited to, security, workflow, data management, development and integration of 3rd party tools.  This may be in the ITSM Module (Clifford Chance uses ITSM Pro) or on a variety of custom applications.

As part of this work, the analyst will be responsible for ensuring that core data integrity is maintained by adhering to a common, agreed taxonomy and naming convention. 

The role will support the ServiceNow upgrade cycle and will liaise with ServiceNow as and when incidents and/or requests need to be raised. The role will also need to work with internal and/or external engineering and development resources as and when more complex scripting and integration work is required. It is, therefore, expected that this role will build strong relationships with both individuals within ServiceNow as well as key engineering and development resources within Clifford Chance.

It will be the responsibility of the person in this role to track and manage any 3rd party activity affecting the tool.
 

The Role

The Working Capital Controller is a senior finance role with end‑to‑end accountability for the Australia office's working capital performance across work in progress (WIP), billing, collections, debt, and trust account administration. The role leads a team of working capital professionals and acts as a trusted commercial partner to Partners and senior lawyers, supporting compliant, profitable, and timely delivery of client matters.

Working closely with Partners, Lawyers, and specialist teams (including Business Development, Legal Practice Management, Tax, and Commercial), the role balances strong commercial judgement with rigorous control and policy compliance across local, regional, and global requirements.

This role plays a critical part in protecting cash flow, profitability, and financial discipline, while enabling Partners and lawyers to deliver successful client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management

Build strong, credible relationships with Partners, lawyers, practice support colleagues, and clients; act as a trusted commercial adviser to influence decision‑making.

Proactively follow up with Partners and practice support colleagues on agreed actions to resolve matter, billing, and collection issues.

Respond to financial and commercial enquiries from clients, Partners, and lawyers relating to client matters.

2. Commercial Support & Matter Economics

Partner with Business Development teams at matter inception to ensure new matters are structured in line with firm policies, with optimal profitability and minimal tax risk.

Review and support rate setting for Australian matters, including promoting use of the APAC rate card for Australian support on overseas‑led matters and maintaining awareness of local, regional, and global client rate agreements.

Perform in‑progress reviews of matters and proactively escalate commercial, recovery, and profitability risks to Management, Tax, and Commercial teams.

Champion use of in-house commercial tools and reporting (including MRPT and Power BI dashboards), guiding Partners and lawyers on ongoing profitability analysis.

Support delivery of commercial awareness training to Partners and lawyers in collaboration with the Commercial team.

3. Working Capital Management

Lead regular financial review meetings with Partners and Senior Lawyers covering fees, profitability, billing status, WIP, and debt.

Perform monthly WIP provision assessments in compliance with IFRS 15, including forecasting and reporting the revenue impact of significant provision movements.

Assess and recommend WIP and doubtful debt provisions in line with firm policy.

Closely monitor matter progress and recovery, anticipating WIP write‑offs and uncollectable debts, and escalating risks early to enable timely intervention.

Drive collections performance by focusing on long‑outstanding debts and partnering with Partners to achieve timely recovery.

Set and monitor monthly billing and collection targets based on WIP and debt profiles.

4. Controls, Governance & Team Leadership

Provide strong leadership, coaching, and direction to the Working Capital team to deliver high‑quality billing and working capital support.

Ensure working capital operations comply with firm policies, accounting standards, and local regulatory requirements through training and a robust controls framework.

Act as an approver for billing and working capital controls within Control Manager.

Collaborate with Working Capital Controllers across the global network on cross‑border matters, billing issues, and best‑practice sharing; contribute to regional and global finance initiatives.

Job Description

Revenue generation

• Support the practice/product in implementing its business development plan.
• Support the coordination of BD product offerings and initiatives within the wider practice/product and the firm more widely.
• Leverage the Client Insight & Business Intelligence Team (and other client and/or sector teams) to track market trends and opportunities for the practice/product.
• Provide tailored input into significant practice /product pitches and updating and maintaining capability statements.

Reputation management and marketing communications

• Support initiatives to position and raise the profile of the practice/product and its individual lawyers.
• Involvement in the organisation of relevant BD client events, seminars and conferences, sponsorships, PR, etc.
• Assist with marketing communications projects, including the delivery of relevant directory/awards submissions.
• Support in the creation and distribution of thought leadership material.

Client and Market Development

• Apply working knowledge of practice and products to support firmwide client and sector programmes.

Business Development Function

Support the implementation of the BD Operating Model by assisting with the alignment of activity to teams (within and outside of BD), in line with technology roadmaps and transition plans.

• Previous experience in professional services business development (preferably in a law firm)

Job Description

Working in collaboration with the File Partner and the Managing Associate, utilising Legal Support Centre (LSC) and other available Business Professional resources as appropriate, the Legal Project Manager will be expected to take responsibility for supporting the delivery of the full matter lifecycle, from pricing and inception through to the completion of post-closing activities, for a portfolio of significant matters (or work streams within those matters), to ensure that they are delivered in accordance with the client's needs, efficiently, on budget and within timeframe.  They will also be expected to contribute to the development of legal project management tools and best practices at the Firm and provide training in project management techniques and best practices to lawyers.

This will include some or all of the following (depending on the precise nature of the matter):

• In consultation with clients and colleagues, prepare scope, resourcing and budget proposals for relevant matters or work streams and then track progress against those proposals, alerting the relevant stakeholders promptly to variances and recommending changes and developing contingency plans where necessary
• Working with the File Partners and Managing Associates, and consulting as necessary with the Work Allocation Partners, ensure that relevant matters are adequately and appropriately resourced at all times, taking in to account anticipated changes in matter activity and the upcoming workload and availability of members of the matter team
• Arrange appropriate kick-off meetings or communications, ensure that members of the relevant matter teams are adequately briefed about the nature of the matters and the client's expectations and ensure that they are kept up-to-date about any relevant changes through regular update meetings and other communications as appropriate
• Maintain or arrange for the maintenance of appropriate communications channels and resources, such as working party lists, team email distribution lists and online deal and data rooms
• Ensure that any applicable information barriers and/or insider lists are established and maintained
• Act as the interface, where appropriate, to matter-specific and other personnel at the client, lawyers in other practice areas and offices, external and opposing counsel third party service providers and other Innovation and/or Pricing colleagues

Qualifications

It is essential that you have project management experience with a strong academic history.  Although not essential, a formal project management qualification, such as PRINCE2 or PMP would be desirable, as would a prior career as a lawyer, but neither is essential.  A legal qualification is not required.

Experience

You will have a solid background in project management, preferably gained in a professional services environment.  You will also have significant experience of managing teams and supporting complex, multi-jurisdictional matters or engagements (ideally, in a dedicated project management capacity).

• The daily work primarily focuses on  Natural Language processing (NLP).
