Job Description

The National Quantum Federated Foundry (NQFF) is seeking a research engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing essential quantum hardware and device components. The candidate will join our efforts spanning multiple quantum technology platforms ranging from trapped ions to integrated photonics and superconducting devices.

About the role

You will be embedded in a team of research scientists and engineers, contributing hands-on to the development and characterisation of quantum hardware. Based on your strengths and experience, your work will be shaped around one or more of the following focus areas:

• Device Fabrication & Engineering — Perform device fabrication and support the development and optimisation of the processes: this may include cleanroom-based nanofabrication work, electrical assembly (wirebonding, soldering, etc), and prototyping (machining, 3D printing, etc).

Job Summary

We are a project team comprising researchers from SingHealth, A*STAR, and Synapxe, developing a product to enhance the management and treatment of patients with lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs)—a condition that accounts for nearly 489 million cases globally and is a major contributor to inappropriate antibiotic use in Singapore. 

Over 40% of prescriptions for LRTIs are unnecessary, contributing to antimicrobial resistance (AMR)—a top global health threat. Traditional stewardship programs are expert-dependent and resource-intensive, limiting scalability.

To overcome these challenges, we are building an AI-powered Large Language Model platform that uses routinely collected clinical data to help clinicians identify cases that do not require antibiotics, thereby reducing unnecessary prescriptions.

Role:

As a Research Officer, you will play a central role by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) for intelligent processing of unstructured clinical text—such as physician notes, discharge summaries, and radiology reports. Your work will help build explainable, scalable, and real-time AI recommendations that assist clinicians at the point of care for lower respiratory tract infections.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the LLM development, focusing on enhancing unstructured data processing for clinical and biomedical applications.

The A*STAR Skin Research Labs invites applications for a Research Officer to support ongoing research in the Digital Twin of Skin (DTS) and optical metrology of Asian skin. The Laboratory of Skin Stem Cell Dynamics, headed by Dr. Kenneth Lay, investigates how stem cells of the skin govern tissue homeostasis and contribute to disease pathogenesis so as to reveal novel pharmacological intervention points. We focus on two stem cell populations that maintain distinct compartments of the skin throughout our lifetime: epidermal stem cells and hair follicle stem cells. We use in vivo mouse models and in vitro human 2D cell culture, 3D skin organotypics and iPSC-derived skin organoids, and employ cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and omics technologies to tackle inflammatory skin disorders, including atopic dermatitis and hair loss.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our laboratory in A*STAR Skin Research Labs (SRL) and affiliated with Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS), a tripartite partnership between A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National Skin Centre (NSC) to improve skin health in Asia and globally.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Lead, design and perform experiments involving mouse models, human cell cultures, bulk and single cell omics technologies, genome editing, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology
• Apply for individual research grants as part of career development
• Present findings at seminars, meetings and conferences
• Write manuscripts for publication
• Contribute to mentorship of students, interns and technicians in the laboratory
• Be an excellent team player to move science forward together

Requirements:

• PhD in Life Sciences or related fields
• Strong background in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, developmental and stem cell biology, and/or immunology
• Demonstrated independent experience in bioinformatics, omics technologies and/or mouse models will be viewed favourably
• Track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications with at least one first-author paper
• Dedication, motivation and passion in scientific research and learning
• Exceptional analytical, experimental design, technical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in communication, writing and editing scientific documents
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and efficiently in a team

The A*STAR Skin Research Labs is seeking a Scientist with strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology to lead and support analytical research on the Digital Twin of Skin (DTS) and optical metrology of Asian skin. Skin is a remarkably complex organ, and our approach embraces this richness by decomposing it across multiple spatial and biological scales—nano, micro, and meso. At the nanoscale, this includes molecular and cellular information such as DNA, RNA, proteins, and other biochemical constituents, while higher scales capture tissue structure, optical properties, and functional responses.

The Digital Twin of Skin will integrate rigorous biophysical modeling with state-of-the-art AI methodologies into a unified framework that links mechanisms with data and prediction with interpretation. Importantly, the DTS will be explicitly tailored to address melanin-related challenges in Asian skin, including its influence on optical signatures, light–tissue interactions, and downstream diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy. By embedding melanin-aware modeling across scales, the platform aims to enable more accurate, equitable, and clinically relevant skin analytics.

This work sits at the intersection of physics, biology, and machine intelligence, and offers a rare opportunity to shape how skin health, diagnostics, and interventions are understood and developed for Asian populations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop AI and biophysics-based models across multiple biological and physical scales.
• Perform data processing and statistical analysis using specialized software tools.
• Interpret complex datasets to elucidate biophysical mechanisms relevant to skin biology.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists and clinicians to integrate experimental and computational findings.

Requirements:

• PhD in Computational Science, Computing, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.

• Hands-on experience with MATLAB and Python, and AI frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Job Summary
The HPC System Engineer will design, optimize, and maintain HPC system architecture, including compute, interconnect, and storage components. This role involves advanced performance tuning, resource planning, and technology evaluation to ensure scalability, reliability, and security of NSCC’s supercomputing infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities

System Engineering & Optimization:

• Evaluate HPC system architecture, including compute, interconnect, and storage components.
• Collaborate with HPC System Administrators to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Assist in performance tuning and root-cause analysis for complex system-level issues.
• Develop and maintain utility tools for system diagnostics and performance profiling.

Resource & Workload Management:

• Configure and optimize job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, PBS Pro) to maximize resource utilization and throughput.
• Develop and enforce policies for resource allocation and workload prioritization.

Design & Planning:

• Assess future computational requirements and contribute to HPC system architecture design.
• Evaluate emerging technologies (processors, accelerators, interconnects, storage solutions, programming models).

Compliance & Risk Management:

• Define and implement security policies in collaboration with administrators.
• Conduct regular security checks and ensure compliance with organizational standards.

Collaboration & Documentation:

• Work closely with Middleware and Storage Engineers to ensure system compatibility.
• Document system architecture, configurations, and engineering decisions.

Qualifications:

• Degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, IT or other relevant areas.
• At least 3 years of experience in managing HPC systems.
• Highly proficient in UNIX/Linux environments and command line interface (CLI).
• Experience with cluster management software (xCAT, BCM, PHPC, HPCM).
• Experience with job scheduling and workload management software (Slurm or PBS Pro)
• Strong knowledge of HPC storage principles and experience in managing parallel file system (Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS).
• Strong knowledge of RDMA-based interconnect (InfiniBand, RoCE).
• Understanding of basic network protocols like DHCP, DNS, TFTP, SMTP, etc.
• Good knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash or Perl.
• Demonstrate ability to analyse complex issues and develop effective solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated individual to fill the position of a research scientist in the group. You will be part of the team charged with the development of high precision motion systems required in automated machines tools for semiconductor industry. In this role, you are expected to perform the modelling, simulation and control of the motion control system to achieve coordinated motion for the complex equipment. The ability to model and analyse the system dynamics under the various operational scenario would also be a necessary part of the development process. In addition, hands-on experience with the implementation of digital control methods (with hardware in the loop) is required in order to achieve the real-time control of the motion system. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that enhance motion system performance, reliability and efficiency.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Design and develop motion control algorithms for complex precision motion systems.
• Implement advanced control strategies with state-of-the-art learning-based control methods including but not limited to reinforcement learning, Bayesian optimization etc.
• Use tools like MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, dSPACE, Speedgoat or equivalent to simulate and control the motion systems
• Perform system-level simulations to optimize performance and stability.
• Develop test procedures for motion control systems to ensure compliance with performance requirements.
• Select and implement motion control components, including sensors, controllers, and drive electronics.
• Work closely with the hardware team to integrate control systems with mechanical and electrical sub-systems.
• Optimize motion trajectories for precision tracking, high speed and energy efficient actuation.

• 2-3 years of work experience or similar is preferred
