Job Summary:
The Data Governance
Business Analyst supports the design, implementation, and continuous
improvement of data governance practices across the organization. This role
works closely with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, IT teams,
and compliance teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, secure, and
aligned with business and regulatory requirements. The analyst helps define
data policies, document business rules, improve data quality, and support
governance frameworks that enable trusted data for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
-Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to data
governance, data quality, metadata, and master data.
-Partner with business and technical teams to define data definitions, business
glossaries, data standards, and data ownership.
-Support the development and maintenance of data governance frameworks,
policies, standards, and procedures.
-Identify data quality issues, analyze root causes, and work with stakeholders
to define remediation plans.
-Facilitate workshops and meetings with data owners, stewards, and SMEs to
align on governance requirements.
-Document data flows, data lineage, data mappings, and process models.
-Translate business needs into functional requirements for data governance
tools and solutions.
-Assist in implementing data catalog, metadata management, and data quality
tools.
-Monitor governance KPIs, data quality metrics, and compliance with data
standards.
-Support regulatory and compliance initiatives related to data privacy,
retention, and security.
-Create reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate governance
progress and risks.
-Promote data governance awareness and help drive adoption across business
units.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data
Management, or a related field.
3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Data Governance
Analyst.
Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, master data,
and data lifecycle concepts.
Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with SQL and data analysis/reporting tools.
Excellent communication, documentation, and facilitation skills.
Ability to work across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
