Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Design and implement a developmentally appropriate 30-week Drama training programme in consultation with the Teacher-in-Charge.

• Develop students' passion for Drama while nurturing positive values and character.

• Effectively manage and motivate students to work collaboratively.

• Guide students in scriptwriting and script development with student participation.

• Prepare students for performances, competitions, and showcases, including SYF and non-SYF events.

• Support students participating in multiple concurrent events and performances.

• Commit to the full contract duration and provide continuity in instruction.

• Where possible, expose students to external learning opportunities such as theatre performances, industry visits, community engagement projects, and collaborations with other schools.

Requirements

• Manage an effective, orderly and safe learning environment.
• Plan and deliver a curriculum for the class according to the agreed termly plan, and in accordance with the agreed principles and practice of timetabling of the year group and the school, as laid down in the Staff Handbook; differentiate that delivery according to the abilities and learning strategies of individual students.

Planning & Development

• Contribute as a team member to the planning of the annual and termly curriculum for the year group according to the school’s published schemes of work in each subject.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of curricular and other initiatives according to the School’s Calendar.
• Contribute to the maintenance and development of the curriculum by being a member of a vertical curriculum team across Key Stages One and Two.
• Participate in the Review and Development process to personalise professional learning and maintain an accurate and up to date record of all Professional Development opportunities.
• Take part in relevant development activities to enhance ongoing professional skills, knowledge and understanding including professional reflection and evaluation.
• Demonstrate a commitment to professional development, by using up to 1 hour of PPA time per term to peer observe colleagues and share good practice, providing HOY/HOLS with a written professional reflection.
• Support colleagues in developing their professional practice within class/unit.
• Support colleagues in the Review and Development and Performance Management processes with TLAs and STLAs in accordance with the agreed school procedures.

Assessment, Recording & Reporting

• Keep detailed records of plans, and of achievements of individual students; developing, in conjunction with the year group, standardised forms of assessment and record keeping.
• Report to parents in accordance with the school’s reporting policy as laid down in the Staff Handbook.

Communication & Liaison

• Follow the School’s policies and procedures with regard to discipline and behaviour, daily routines, duties, homework, leave of absence, and field study trips, as laid down in the Staff Handbook.
• Fulfill supervision role during lunches and break times.
• Participate in Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) across the school at a level agreed with the Head of Junior School.
• Embrace and lead on the school’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
• Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Working Hours: 5.5 day work week, 44 hours 

    shift-based; typically 8hrs x 5 days + 4hrs x 1 day

                             1 day off per week based on rotational basis.

No prior experience required — comprehensive training will be provided

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Prepare nigiri sushi, maki rolls, and sashimi

• Fillet and process whole fish, including all preparation and mise en place

• Engage with guests at the counter — explain dishes, make recommendations, and deliver a memorable dining experience

• Manage freshness and quality control of ingredients

• Adapt menu offerings based on the day’s market deliveries

• Maintain strict hygiene standards in line with HACCP requirements

• Coordinate with Japanese management, kitchen, and service teams

Qualification and Requirements:

Must-Have:

• Genuine passion for sushi and Japanese cuisine — a strong desire to pursue the craft seriously and develop your skills over the long term

• Strong teamwork and communication skills — the sushi counter is a guest-facing position. You should be comfortable interacting with diners and collaborating closely with service and kitchen teams

• Growth mindset — a desire to grow from trainee to leading the sushi counter and eventually into restaurant management

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine (any level welcome)

• Basic fish filleting and preparation skills

• Food safety knowledge or certifications
