Company Description
Toke & Chen is a boutique interior design studio founded in 2018, specializing in end-to-end residential projects. We work closely with clients to translate intent into spaces that are both tasteful and buildable. The studio values design clarity, delivery discipline, and thoughtful decision-making over volume.
Role Description
This role is for a Senior Designer who is comfortable taking ownership of projects from design development through construction delivery.
You will take over projects after initial client alignment and sales confirmation, leading the design development process, preparing quotations, and managing the project through to completion.
This role requires strong design judgment, commercial awareness, and the ability to independently manage client conversations and project progression.
For the right candidate, there is clear progression toward broader design leadership within the studio.
Key Responsibilities
Project Ownership
• Take ownership of projects from sales confirmation through design and construction
• Lead client meetings during the design and delivery phases
• Guide clients through decisions while maintaining design clarity and project alignment
Design Development
• Translate initial design direction into spatial layouts and design proposals
• Develop concepts into buildable design outcomes across materials, detailing, and space planning
• Prepare clear presentation materials for client discussions
Quotation Leadership
• Align scope, design intent, and budget considerations
• Lead the preparation and refinement of project quotations
• Work with vendors and contractors to ensure quotation clarity and feasibility
Documentation & Technical Coordination
• Produce and review accurate design drawings using AutoCAD and SketchUp
• Ensure documentation clearly communicates design intent for construction
• Coordinate drawings and revisions throughout the design process
Construction Coordination
• Attend site meetings and work closely with contractors to resolve design and detailing issues
• Ensure design intent is maintained during implementation
• Anticipate and resolve practical construction considerations
Systems & Process
• Work within established studio SOPs for documentation, project tracking, and reviews
• Maintain clear records and participate in structured weekly check-ins
What We’re Looking For
• Minimum 4 years of industry experience in residential interior design
• Strong background in residential interior design and space planning
• Comfortable managing projects independently from design development through delivery
• Experience preparing or managing renovation quotations
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp (or similar tools)
• Clear communicator with strong organisational skills
• Comfortable working within structured systems and processes
What This Role Is Not
• Not a junior production role — independent ownership of projects is expected
• Not drafting support — design judgment and client management are required
• Not responsible for originating sales — projects are handed over after confirmation
