We are seeking an OpenShift Engineer, L1Support to provide first-level operational support for enterprise RedHat OpenShift / Kubernetes environments.
This is an infrastructure andplatform operations role. The engineer will support daily monitoring,incident triage, basic troubleshooting, operational checks, user accesssupport, and escalation of platform issues to L2/L3 teams.
The ideal candidate should havehands-on exposure to Linux systems, OpenShift/Kubernetes operations, containerplatforms, networking basics, monitoring tools, and production supportprocesses.
Key Responsibilities
Provide L1 operational support for Red HatOpenShift / Kubernetes platforms.
- Perform daily health checks on OpenShift clusters, nodes, pods, operators, routes, storage, and platform services.
- Monitor cluster availability, resource usage, alerts, and workload status using Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, ELK, Splunk, or equivalent tools.
- Perform first-level troubleshooting for common platform issues, including:
- Pod failures
- CrashLoopBackOff
- Image pull errors
- Node resource pressure
- Route / ingress access issues
- DNS-related issues
- Persistent volume mount issues
- Certificate expiry alerts
- Basic authentication or access issues
- Support routine platform operations such as:
- User and group access requests
- Namespace / project checks
- Pod restarts and rollout validation
- Log collection
- Basic YAML review
- Alert validation
- Evidence collection for incidents and changes
- Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 platform teams with clear initial findings, logs, timestamps, affected components, and business impact.
- Support planned changes, maintenance windows, patching activities, upgrades, and deployment validations under guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with application, DevOps, infrastructure, network, security, and vendor teams to coordinate issue resolution.
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, runbooks, shift handover notes, and knowledge base articles.
- Follow enterprise incident, problem, change, and service request processes.
- Participate in shift-based support, standby, or rostered operations where required.
Required Skills &Experience
2 to 4 years of hands-on experience ininfrastructure, Linux, Kubernetes, or OpenShift platform operations.
- Hands-on working knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes operations.
- Basic Linux system administration and command-line troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of container concepts using Docker, CRI-O, or containerd.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes/OpenShift core objects, including:
- Pods
- Deployments
- ReplicaSets
- Services
- Routes / Ingress
- ConfigMaps
- Secrets
- PersistentVolumeClaims
- Namespaces / Projects
- Nodes
- Basic OpenShift CLI and Kubernetes CLI usage, including oc and kubectl.
- Ability to read and understand YAML manifests.
- Basic troubleshooting experience using commands such as:

- oc get nodes
- oc get co
- Basic understanding of OpenShift cluster components such as:
- Control plane
- Worker nodes
- Operators
- Router / ingress
- Registry
- Monitoring stack
- Familiarity with monitoring and alert handling using Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, ELK, Splunk, or similar tools.
- Basic networking knowledge, including DNS, IP addressing, load balancers, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS certificates, routes/ingress, and firewall concepts.
- Basic storage knowledge, including PersistentVolumes, PersistentVolumeClaims, StorageClass, NFS, block storage, or object storage.
- Experience in production support, operations, incident handling, or daily system health checks.
- Ability to collect logs, evidence, and initial findings for escalation.
- Basic scripting ability using Shell or Python is advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting OpenShift in enterprise,banking, telecom, government, or regulated environments.
- Exposure to Red Hat OpenShift 4.x.
- Exposure to VMware, bare metal, or cloud-hosted OpenShift environments.
- Basic understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD, or Tekton.
- Familiarity with GitOps concepts.
- Basic understanding of certificates, secrets, image registries, and container image scanning.
- Practical experience with ITIL processes such as incident, problem, change, and service request management.
- Red Hat certification such as RHCSA, EX180, EX280, or equivalent is an advantage.
