Job Description

• Operate the machine and carry out the required tasks at the workstations according to the established operating procedures and safety risk assessment
• Coordinates and execute hands-on physical production task to meet daily output targets. E.g. Safely operate reach trucks and forklifts to transport raw materials, staging components, mixing blending and packaging of finished goods
• Ensure all necessary paperwork (eg: quality related checklist) for the station are completed
• Ensure the product quality is within the specification at all times
• Support production, process, maintenance, QA and project engineering activities as needed
• Support plant activities as required by Management
• Monitor the production supply required in the station and alert when necessary
• Lead problem-solving within the station
• Conduct on-the-job training for new technicians and complete all required certification forms as and when required by the company
• Lead & Deploy resources within the station and during plant shut down period
• Develop and update SOP, SRA and other training materials when needed
• Identify opportunities and work with other teams to drive continuous improvement on EHSS, cost saving, quality and/or yield
• Actively participate in EHSS activities including Concern reporting, Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) Review and EHSS committee meeting participation
• Conform to local regulations and SHEM
• Ensure housekeeping of the work area

Requirements

• Min. GCE “N”, GCE “O”, NITEC, Higher NITEC or equivalent
• Preferably minimum 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in Manufacturing environment Compounding operation. Fresh graduate is welcome apply
• Able to control DCS consoles
• Good communication skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate good trouble shooting and analytical skills Independently
• Strong adherence to EHSS requirements
• Good knowledge in MS Software (Excel)
• Preferably with Forklift Driver License
• Able to perform rotating shift work

JOB PURPOSE

Be responsible for plant shift safe operation, shift team management, and shift team member's skillset development.

Ensure the shift team achieve the shift production target, KPI, and sustained stable operation.

Be responsible as the field emergency response commander to ensure workplace safety is fulfilled.

Job Responsibilities

Shift Production

• Possess good knowledge in typical polymerization plant operation, understand basic fundamentals on polymerization, boiler, furnace operations, and solid handlings.• Possess good understanding of standard operation procedures and be able to review and revise SOPs for Singapore polymer plant.
• Lead the operation shift team to operate a full process area, including polymerization process, utilities, material handling, and packaging steps, to meet the conditions specified in standard operation conditions and standard operation procedures.
• Patrol plant to observe process and equipment conditions, operation, maintenance, and contractor safe behaviours and working conditions. Prepare and organize patrol records, communicate and issue work orders.
• Assist and participate in coordination of daily maintenance activities, planning, turn around planning and activities. Support maintenance and quality team in troubleshooting’s. Lead operation crew to carry out certain in-shift preventive maintenance work orders.
• Aligned with process engineers and area manager to take measures to improve production and equipment performance for productivity and quality continuous improvement.
• Ensure good shift reports and shift handover quality and timely completion.

Shift Team Management

• Lead and deploy adequate resources within the shift and cross the shift to ensure sufficient resources to fulfil daily safe production needs.
• Co-ordinate OJT / Multi-skilling effort in the team. Conduct on-the-job training for new technicians and complete all required certification process as and when required to build up the team's competency.
• Complete all required training on time for the team.
• Ensure proper communication is delivered to the team members align with company policies and expectations.
• Manage and optimize team's consumables, and over time to further improve overall team's performance.
• Encourage employee engagement and foster empowerment and ownership through active leadership and standard work practices.
• Evaluate team members' performance and conduct performance reviews.
• Set expectation and hold people accountable for EHSS compliance and a role model for appropriate behaviour.
• Accountable for shift team performance and operational discipline.

EHS

• Ensure shift team comply with company EHSS policies’, procedures, local regulations, and safe work practices.
• Lead, promote, and participate EHSS activities in the shift, including, but not limited, concern reporting, safety risk assessment, PHA, safety best practice implementation and review, safety promotion initiatives, participate EHSS committee meetings, and incident investigation.
• Assume Site Frontline Commander (SFC) role in the emergency response and in the emergency response drills. Ensure shift team is fit and competent in the emergency response.
• Perform Permit To Work's job site risk assessment, and issue PTW to achieve safe work executions. Require possessing good knowledge safe work practices and certifications for high risk tasks, such as confined space entry, hot work, and line break.
• Report all incidents, near misses, deviation from plan and take part in further investigation when required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Chemical Engineering with extensive years of working experience in Polymer and Chemical Plant Operations.
• Graduate with bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering is a plus.
• 8 years’ relevant work experience in Chemical Process Plant.
• 1 to 2 years relevant experiences in Supervisory role.
• Boiler certificates are plus.
• Hand-on Experiences in new plant commissioning and start up is an advantage.
• Highly organized with a strong ability to multitask, coordination, and prioritize works.
• Resourceful and willing to coach team members are basic expectations for the role.
• Good communication skills both in written and oral.
• Able to perform 12-hr rotating shift work.

Job Description

• Adherence to the established company core values, operations and safety policies and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and take corrective action to ensure operating parameters are within Standard Operating Condition for the production of quality products.
• Perform routine patrol check, collect data and safety inspections on the Ultem Polymerization Process.
• Actively participate in EHSS activities including concern reporting, Safety Risk Assessment (SRA), EHSS committee meeting
• Assist in maintenance works and perform routine cleaning of process equipment such as heat exchanger and strainers.
• Maintain established 5S standard at workplace.
• Capture all the activities and adjustment made during shift in the logbook, and proper escalation for any unresolved operational variances.
• Follow up and follow through all TOI/TA/Interlock bypass according to plan/instruction.
• Manage and coordinate logistic and downstream production team for raw material handling, finish good management, and packaging.
• Participate drills and emergency response trainings to ensure high degree of readiness in response to any emergency situations.
• Conduct patrol checks in the plant and ensure all the process conditions are within SOC/QSOC. Complete daily functional area field log sheets, and daily reporting (logbook)
• Monitor DCS control consoles for process performance on a continuous basis, including process parameters, alarms, and provides feedback of corrective action and optimization to subject matter engineers.
• Monitor sample results from analytical laboratory and follow instructions to make adjustment from DCS console whenever necessary.
• Lead problem-solving within the team and generate quality/safety non-conformance report whenever necessary.
• Conduct on-the-job training for new hires or newly assigned area technicians and complete all required certification per master training plans.
• Lead & Deploy resources within shift teams during plant upset/emergency situations.
• Develop and update SOP, SRA and other training materials when needed.
• Identify opportunities and work with other teams to drive continuous improvement on EHSS, cost saving, quality and/or yield.
• Assign as change leader and raise MOC for production as required.
• Liaise with shift leaders, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to address the identified EHSS/Quality issue.
• Able to support Process Order Technical Completion.

Requirements

• Min. NITEC or Higher NITEC in Chemical Process / Mechanical Engineering with extensive years of working experience in Polymer and Chemical Plant Operations.
• Diploma or Bachelor degree in Chemical Process Technology / Mechanical Engineering or other equivalent.
• 2-3 years’ relevant work experience in Chemical Process Plant.
• Good knowledge and experience in PTW system and ERT training.
• In-depth knowledge in polymerization processing, fire vessel operation, and solid handling.
• Mechanical related working experience is a plus
• Knowledgeable about chemical process plant operation
• Knowledgeable in mechanical equipment
• Knowledgeable about emergency response practices
• Basic investigation skills to make right judgement in the continuous operational environment
• Basic knowledge in results trend analysis
• Working knowledge of office software.
