In Maybank, we are seeking a hands-on engineer to support the Emerging Technologies function within the FinTech & Emerging Tech CoE.  

This role focuses on adapting and building new technologies including digital asset and tokenization capabilities, delivering high-impact experiments and scalable reference architectures aligned with the bank’s strategic priorities.  

You will work across engineering, experimentation, and business collaboration to translate emerging technologies into practical, enterprise-ready solutions. 

Key Responsibilities 

Engineering and Platform Development  Design, build, and integrate software and infrastructure for emerging technology initiatives, including blockchain-based solutions, smart contracts, APIs, and microservices. 

• Develop reference architectures and standards in line with security, cryptographic, and enterprise architecture policies and best practices. 

• Work hands-on with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code to support emerging technology workloads. 

• Develop tools as needed to support automation and maintenance across the emerging technology SDLC. 

Experimentation and Prototyping 

• Build PoCs and MVPs with a clear path to productionization, ensuring design decisions account for scalability, security, and operational constraints from the outset 

• Run small, high-impact experiments to validate use cases and identify quick wins. 

• Set up and manage sandbox and test environments. 

• Document outcomes and recommend scaling approaches. 

Collaboration and Technology Evaluation 

• Work with business stakeholders to assess solution maturity and use-case applicability, including build vs buy vs partner assessments and RFI / RFP / RFQs. 

• Translate functional and non-functional requirements into technical designs and working solutions. 

• Contribute to defining architecture patterns, governance frameworks, and design standards for digital asset implementations. 

Scaling and Operationalization 

• Evolve PoCs into enterprise-grade solutions with production readiness (e.g., resilience, scalability, security). 

• Develop tools and playbooks for continued support and maintenance of deployed assets (e.g., monitoring, testing, forensics). 

• Enable integration with external ecosystems, marketplaces, and digital asset networks. 

Document and track technology debt and key business continuity risk items with defined action plans. 

Role requirements

• 6-15 years of experience in software engineering and architecture. 

• Hands on expertise in building and delivering solutions on DLT platforms (Ethereum, Hyperledger, Corda) 

• Experience developing production-grade Digital Assets solutions, such as tokenization platforms, lifecycle management, custody solutions, compliance / risk management systems, interoperability protocols, etc. 

• Strong programming skills (e.g., Java, Typescript / NodeJS, Python, Go, Solidity and / or Rust). 

• Experience in scalable API, WebSocket, Microservices, Event-Based and Cloud-Native architectures. 

• Experience working with various emerging technologies across infrastructure to application layers. 

• Hands-on experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD systems) 

• Practical understanding of applied cryptography and secure system design, particularly in regulated or financial environments. 

• Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to operate in agile, fast-paced experimental environments. 

• Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

In Maybank, we are seeking a hands-on, execution-focused professional with strong domain and technical understanding to support the delivery of fintech initiatives within the Fintech & Emerging Tech Centre of Excellence (CoE). 

This role is responsible for bridging business requirements and technology delivery— enabling PoCs, supporting integrations, and ensuring successful pilot-to-production outcomes. 

You will work at the intersection of business, technology, and external fintech partners to design, validate, and operationalize scalable solutions across priority domains. 

Key Responsibilities 

Business Analysis & Requirement Engineering 

• Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements across fintech initiatives. 

• Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and data requirements. 

• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to define use cases, journeys, and success criteria. 

• Perform gap analysis between current and target state processes and systems. 

Solution Design & Tech Translation 

• Act as a bridge between business and engineering teams to ensure clear interpretation of requirements into system design. 

• Define solution workflows, sequence diagrams, and integration touchpoints. 

• Support API/interface specification, including request/response structures and data mapping. 

• Contribute to solution architecture discussions with a focus on feasibility, scalability, and maintainability. 

PoC, Sandbox & Delivery Support 

• Support end-to-end PoC execution including use case definition, data preparation, testing scenarios, and success metrics. 

• Assist in configuring sandbox environments and validating solution outputs against business expectations. 

• Develop test cases, UAT plans, and validation frameworks. 

• Track PoC outcomes and document insights for decision-making. 

Integration & Data Analysis 

• Work on API-based integrations, including requirement definition, payload validation, and testing. 

• Perform data mapping, transformation logic definition, and reconciliation checks across systems. 

• Analyze system interactions and troubleshoot integration or data issues during testing phases. 

Governance, Risk & Documentation 

• Ensure requirements and solutions comply with technology standards, security requirements, and regulatory expectations. 

• Support third-party onboarding by documenting functional flows, data handling, and control points. 

• Prepare BRDs, FSDs, solution design documents, and governance materials for internal review forums. 

Role Requirements

• 7–12 years of experience as a techno-functional analyst or in software development roles in banking, fintech, or technology-driven environments. 

• Domain knowledge in one or more areas - Payments, Trade Finance, Wealth, Digital Platforms, or Data & AI. 

• Strong experience in requirement gathering, functional analysis, and documentation (BRD/Tech specs/user stories). 

• Working knowledge of APIs (REST/JSON), system integration methods, and data flows. 

• Familiarity with technical concepts such as microservices, cloud environments, and system architecture basics. 

• Hands-on exposure to PoCs, UAT, testing cycles, and implementation support. 

• Experience in data analysis, mapping, and reconciliation across systems. 

• Understanding of security, regulatory, and third-party risk considerations in banking. 

• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, user stories, sprint cycles). 

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner. 

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or related fields.
