The Role
This role, based in Singapore, is to work with our Singapore-based corporate / M&A partner and the wider Asia team to support on a variety of advisory and transactional corporate matters such as investments, M&A, disposals, joint ventures and fundraising. Our clients include UHNW individuals, founders, entrepreneurs, family offices, venture capital funds, private equity funds, multinationals, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds.
Our corporate / M&A practice in Singapore focuses on:
- international and cross-border corporate transactions in Southeast Asia (across various asset classes); and
- corporate transactions in the UK real estate sector for Asia-based clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting transaction documents and ancillary documents (in the case of complex documents, under the supervision of senior lawyers).
- Leading and conducting multi-jurisdictional legal due diligence exercises.
- Advising on company law and corporate law matters.
- Engaging in client marketing and business development activities including attending internal and external events.
- Contributing to publications, divisional knowledge and know-how initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified as a lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (e.g. England & Wales and New York). For lawyers called to the bar in Singapore, a qualification in another common law jurisdiction is a requirement.
- NQ to 4 years’ PQE (international law firm background and/or international experience preferred).
- Degree from a reputable university with a strong academic record (preference for law degrees).
- Good legal writing and drafting skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to working with clients, teammates and counterparties based in different geographies and time zones.
- Demonstrates interest in AI in legal practice and legal technology.
- Manages time effectively and performs well undertime and work pressures.
