Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, technically exceptional, and leadership-driven Workshop Manager to oversee our workshop operations. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of 5 mechanics, ensuring optimal workflow, maintaining stringent quality control, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and strong teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of automotive mechanics.
Identify skill gaps and implement training and development programs to keep the team updated on the latest BMW and Porsche technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair methodologies.
Build a cohesive, high-performance team culture rooted in mutual respect, clear communication, and accountability.
2. Workshop Operations & Scheduling
Manage daily workshop workflow, including careful work planning, job scheduling, and load balancing among mechanics to maximize efficiency and minimize vehicle downtime.
Supervise complex diagnostic and repair jobs, providing technical guidance on tricky BMW and Porsche cases (e.g., engine overhauls, advanced electrical troubleshooting, transmission issues).
Maintain strict quality control standards to ensure "right-first-time" repairs and zero back-jobs.
3. Resource & Inventory Management
Oversee workshop equipment maintenance, ensuring all specialized BMW/Porsche diagnostic tools and machinery are calibrated and well-maintained.
Coordinate with the parts department to ensure the timely availability of genuine or high-quality OEM parts.
Enforce strict workplace safety, health (WSH), and cleanliness standards within the workshop.
Requirements & Qualifications
Nationality: Must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR).
Technical Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the repair, maintenance, and diagnostics of continental cars, with a heavy emphasis on BMW and Porsche models.
Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in an automotive workshop environment.
Expertise: Deep familiarity with BMW ISTA/IDED, Porsche PIWIS diagnostic systems, and specialized tools. Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical automotive systems.
Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational and scheduling skills, strong conflict-resolution abilities, and a proven track record of strengthening team dynamics.
Communication: Fluency in English (both written and spoken) to effectively communicate with the team and occasionally assist with high-level customer technical consultations.
