Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Kaiwen Chen at the National University of Singapore. The successful candidate will become part of a young and dynamic research team investigating the molecular mechanisms of innate immunity, cell death signalling, and host–pathogen interactions. The Research Assistant will support ongoing research projects through laboratory experiments and contribute to studies aimed at understanding how host cells detect and respond to microbial infections. Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences, Immunology, Microbiology, or a related discipline
• Experience in cell culture and infection assays
• Experience in molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and lentiviral transduction
• Prior experience in generating bacterial mutants is highly desirable

Terms of Appointment

Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. Strong candidates may also have the opportunity for conversion into PhD studies. The salary package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Griffith University’s School of Applied Psychology is seeking a motivated Research Assistant specialising in Traffic Psychology & Road Safety, particularly within the motorcycle safely area to support applied research activities within the MAIC–Griffith University Road Safety Research Collaboration as part of a successful grant.

Working under the guidance of the Principal Research Fellow, you will contribute to field-based and laboratory research focused on traffic psychology and road safety behaviours relating to motorcycles.

This role offers hands-on research experience in a collaborative and applied research environment, supporting projects with real-world impact on road safety policy and practice.

As a Research Assistant you will be responsible for;

• Assisting with laboratory and field-based research in traffic psychology and road safety.
• Supporting data collection, storage, and preliminary analysis.
• Undertaking literature searches, interviews, and routine testing activities.
• Assisting with the preparation of reports and scholarly outputs.
• Coordinating meetings with researchers and external participants.
• Providing general administrative and research support to the research team.
• Supporting compliance with research ethics, health and safety, and university policies.

Job Requirements:

· Successful candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any relevant field of lifescience (such as neuroscience, cellular/molecular biology, and biochemistry).

· Preference will be given to candidates who have already RCULA (Responsible Care and Use of Laboratory Animals) Certification for mice.

· It is desirable to have research experience in basic biology techniques, especially in histology, microscopy, and preparation of chemical solutions.

· Familiar with various aspects of laboratory management and administrative workflow is a plus.

· Self-motivated individual with an inquisitive mind, good communication skills, and honesty.

Key Responsibilities:

• Extract, locate and convert information from structured and unstructured sources (e.g., case notes, reports, session logs, genograms) into predefined structured data fields.
• Clean and process datasets for analysis using Excel and related tools.
• Produce visualisations (charts, tables) for operational reporting and stakeholder briefings.
• Contribute to data-driven process improvements and help identify opportunities to automate/manual workflow efficiencies.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with data-protection practices when handling sensitive records.
• Provide general administrative support and ad-hoc data tasks as assigned by the team lead.

Key Requirements:

• Holder (Bachelor’s Degree)
• Minimum 1 year relevant experience in data processing, data entry, analytics, or related administrative work.
• Advanced Excel skills (data cleaning, PivotTables, basic formulae).
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, methodical approach, and ability to work with sensitive information.
• Good written and spoken English; clear communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
