Job Description

• Perform laboratory testing, sampling and chemical analysis on raw materials, in-process samples and finished products.
• Carry out QC testing according to SOP, work instructions and safety requirements.
• Prepare samples, chemicals, reagents and laboratory equipment for analysis.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Record, review and report test results accurately.
• Support product quality checks, documentation and laboratory housekeeping.
• Report abnormal results, quality issues or equipment problems to supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, quality and company procedures.

Requirements

• NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma / Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Process, Science, Biotechnology, Food Science or related field.
• Experience in laboratory testing, QC testing, chemical analysis or sampling will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, wet chemistry, titration or analytical instruments is preferred.
• Candidates from chemical, pharmaceutical, food, polymer or manufacturing background are welcome.
• Fresh graduates may be considered for junior openings.
• Able to follow SOP, safety and documentation requirements.
• Responsible, detail-oriented and willing to learn.

Responsibilities of Chemist:

• Lead and implement technical testing methods to ensure compliance with regulatory standards for medical device and pharmaceutical products, including those outlined in USP, for markets in the US, EU, and China.
• Supervise a team of chemists across R&D, Technology Transfer, and Projects, emphasizing experience in Product Development and the ability to deliver cost-effective, reliable technologies for sterile medical device production, ophthalmic solutions, and related products.
• Lead technology transfers and projects, ensuring smooth transitions from lab-scale research to R&D scale and eventually to plant scale.
• Develop and optimize testing methods for new materials and finished products to meet regulatory standards.
• Identify and select chemicals that enhance product shelf-life.
• Provide guidance to the QC team on good laboratory practices, equipment handling, and result interpretation.
• Spearhead the development of new chemicals and oversee their technology transfer.

Requirements:

• Minimum Degree in Chemistry or other relevant field of studies

Primary Goals/Objectives:

To provide an effective testing and analytical service to the plant ensuring that products manufactured are tested to specification on time and plant quality and safety goals are met.

Ensure that all raw material, in-process and finished product testing and method transfer testing is carried out per schedule and per GMP. Ensure that records are maintained to appropriate requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

• Perform biochemistry, analytical and raw material of in-process and marketed products for lot release in accordance with quality standards and procedures.
• Responsible for housekeeping duties in the lab. Perform Quality Tag Out for laboratory equipment such as freezer, water bath and etc.
• Support laboratory operations including but not limited to method transfer, equipment qualification, calibration, cleaning and maintenance, purchase and receipt of reagents and consumables, waste management, reagent and media preparation, critical reagent management and document management.
• Review lot release data, identify testing discrepancies and participate in laboratory investigations.

• To assist in writing SOP documents, Change plan or change records (document revisions) supporting continuous improvement of test procedures and assay sheet design.
• To carry out completion and review of GMP Documentation of data sheets or LIMS software.

Job Purpose

• Reporting to QC Chemist, the incumbent will carry out QC analyses in compliance with Laboratory and Analytical Methods ensuring quality, cGMP, heath, safety and environmental standard are met. Assist in other functions such as documentation and preparation of standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out on the job training of other QC Analysts, incorporating cGMP and safety procedures.
• Perform and carry out analytical testing in compliance with specifications, Analytical Methods, Laboratory Methods and pharmacopoeia requirements.
• Assist in monitor the calibration and maintenance program for laboratory instruments / equipment and ensure compliance with established schedules.

Requirements:

• Preferably possess a years’ hands-on anlaytical testing experience in a lab environment, from the pharmaceutical industry.
• Familiar with analytical equipments (eg. HPLC, GC etc)
• Must be analytical, methodical and quality conscious.
• Good knowledge of FDA regulations and cGMP.
• Preferably possess a Diploma in chemistry/ chemical process technology / bio-process technology; or a ITE graduate.
