Requirements

• Diploma, NITEC, Higher NITEC, or Degree in IT, Engineering, or related field
• Experience in datacenter operations, infrastructure support, or facilities related environments
• Basic to good knowledge of UPS, CRAC, cooling systems, fire suppression, and environmental monitoring tools
• Hands on experience with rack and stack, cabling, patching, labeling, and equipment handling
• Familiarity with asset tagging, inventory tracking, and physical infrastructure documentation
• Able to coordinate with vendors, internal teams, and site stakeholders effectively
• Good troubleshooting skills and ability to respond to operational incidents in a structured manner
• Comfortable working in secure datacenter environments and supporting shift or on call coverage where required

This role bridges development and operations, focusing on building scalable systems, automating processes using Python, and maintaining high service uptime. SREs work closely with Python developers, QA engineers, and product teams to embed reliability into every stage of the software lifecycle, leveraging Python as the primary language for tooling, scripting, and automation.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Maintenance: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable systems, with Python-based services and microservices as the primary stack.
• Monitoring & Observability: Build and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging systems using Python-native tooling (e.g. Prometheus clients, OpenTelemetry SDK, structlog); proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
• Automation & Tooling: Develop and maintain automation tools and internal libraries in Python to streamline operations, reduce manual intervention, and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaboration: Partner with Python development squads to ensure new features are designed with reliability in mind; conduct code reviews for reliability-critical paths; participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Incident Management: Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence; participate in on-call rotations for critical systems; maintain runbooks in version-controlled Python projects.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability through Python best practices, including profiling, benchmarking, and dependency management.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Minimum 2 years in SRE, DevOps, or similar roles.
• Strong Python proficiency — including async frameworks (asyncio, FastAPI), ORM frameworks (Django), testing (pytest), packaging (Poetry/pip), and scripting.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure maintenance work is executed effectively, efficiently and complied with safety and regulatory requirement.

• Respond and attend to plant failures and forced outages to ensure timely and proper rectification and restoration.

• Plan and ensure safe and timely execution of plant overhaul activities.

• Recommend and implement modification, upgrading and installation plans for plant system and equipment for enhancement, availability and reliability improvement.

• Manage the procurement of parts and services to meet the maintenance needs of the section, including spare parts and external services for routine and breakdown maintenance.

• Lead and manage a team of technical officers and technicians.

• Development of staff.

• Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised by the Professional Engineers Board.

• Possesses sound knowledge of Control and Instrumentation and good working knowledge of safety and statutory requirements.

• Driven self-starter with strong work ethics.

• Team player with strong analytical, technology and communication skills.

• Is available on standby after office hours for emergency calls.

• Knowledge in cyber security will be advantageous.

• Have a safety mindset and display good workplace safety behaviour.

• Be a part of the CERT team and be actively involved in emergency responses whenever called upon.
