About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our project team for a major building and infrastructure project located on Penang Island.

This is a site-based position. You will play an important role in coordinating construction activities and assisting in the successful delivery of the project in accordance with approved drawings, construction programme, quality requirements, and safety requirements.

This role requires close coordination with the management team, consultants, and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or other related construction / engineering disciplines.

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in building construction, infrastructure works, M&E works, site coordination, or project engineering.

• Experience in site coordination, subcontractor management, consultant coordination, drawing coordination, or construction progress follow-up.

• Experience in reviewing construction drawings / shop drawings, coordinating site works, preparing or assisting in method statements, and arranging site inspections will be an advantage.

Reporting Structure

The Project Engineer will report to the Lead Engineer with a dotted line to the Project Manager.

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, you will have strong skills in work-plan development and progress tracking. The Project Engineer will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. What You’ll Do

As a Structural Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our offshore execution team. You’ll design and prepare technical solutions for heavy lift projects, and you’ll get the chance to go offshore to see your work come to life.

Your day-to-day will include:

·        Designing lifting arrangements consisting of slings, shackles and specialized lifting equipment.

·        Designing large steel support structures, lift points, and various other structures required during the offshore installation.

·        Review of structural deliverables (construction reports and drawings) from your colleagues and clients.

·        Coordinating with subcontractors and internal teams across disciplines.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll be part of our Technology Department, collaborating with engineers from various backgrounds – installation, mechanical, marine - and working closely with teams in procurement, fabrication, operations, and logistics. During project execution, you’ll also work directly with the vessel crew offshore, providing updates and technical support in response to the dynamic offshore environment.

Who You Are

You’re a driven, hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You enjoy solving complex problems and seeing your ideas in action offshore. You’re also someone who:

·        Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Offshore, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).

·        Has 2-5 years of experience in (offshore) structural engineering of steel structures.

·        Has Affinity with project preparation and execution of offshore projects.

·        Communicates clearly in English and works well across cultures.

·        Is open to offshore assignments and international travel.

A1 MAIN CONTRACTOR, well established construction company, seeking an experienced Civil & Structural professional to support planning, coordination, and technical delivery of building projects.

Candidates at Senior Engineer, Assistant Manager, or Manager level are welcome, depending on experience and capability.

Overview

This role will be responsible for planning, technical coordination, and structural engineering support for Civil & Structural works. The successful candidate will work closely with project, design, and site teams to ensure constructability, resolve technical issues, and support timely project delivery.

• Support planning and coordination of Civil & Structural works for building projects

• Prepare and review concrete body plans, construction sequencing, and methodologies

• Carry out basic structural design calculations and checks for RC and steel structures

• Review C&S drawings and identify design, coordination, and constructability issues

• Raise and manage RFIs, technical queries, and alternative proposals to resolve site issues

• Coordinate with structural consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams on technical matters

• Provide technical support for structural steel works, including sequencing and interfaces

• Assist in monitoring progress and resolving technical constraints affecting schedule

• Participate in coordination meetings and contribute technical input to the project team

• For Assistant Manager / Manager level:

  • Provide guidance to junior engineers

  • Support the Project Manager in technical planning and decision-making

Requirements

• Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related discipline

• 5 years of relevant experience in Civil & Structural works for building projects
  (More experienced candidates may be considered at Manager level)

• Able to prepare concrete body plans and perform basic structural design checks

• Familiar with reinforced concrete construction and site coordination

Key Responsibilities

• Report to the Manager or Team Leader, as shown in the organizational chart. You will be responsible for completing assigned project tasks.
• Study and understand the ISO requirements, technical drawings, project scope, contract details, and sub-contract agreements. Work with consultants to resolve any technical issues before construction begins.
• Submit your work plans to your superior for feedback and approval and carry out tasks according to the approved schedule.
• Ensure the work follows the approved drawings, quality procedures, and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards. Focus on keeping the work site clean and organized.
• Handle quality management by keeping accurate records, analyzing results, and creating action plans to improve quality.
• Maintain proper records to meet EHS, quality, client, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project costs, ensuring that materials are not damaged, and control wastage within acceptable limits. Avoid rework or tasks that could cause delays or increased costs.
• Take on other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager that are needed to complete the project.
• Other ad-hoc duties as assigned
