Broad Functions

Working within Supply Chain & Procurement, as part of the Sustainability Team, this role will provide support to deliver sustainability objectives across the end-to-end supply chain.

Responsible for Sustainability and Integrated Management System-related programs in the supply chain. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities  

Initially focusing on activity in relation to the responsible sourcing management within supply chain ethical standards and sustainable sourcing initiatives across Western Digital. As a Principal Equipment Engineer specializing in sputter media manufacturing, you will serve as the technical authority and strategic leader for sputtering equipment, manufacturing technology, and engineering innovation within the organization. You will lead advanced equipment engineering initiatives, drive long-term technology roadmaps, and provide expert-level support for equipment reliability, manufacturing excellence, and next-generation HDD product development. This role requires strong technical expertise in sputtering systems, vacuum technology, automation, and advanced manufacturing processes, along with the ability to influence cross-functional organizations, mentor engineering teams, and lead large-scale strategic projects across multiple manufacturing areas.

The MRE Engineering Technician is responsible for executing DET Guzik and QMT testing activities, supporting production and engineering operations through accurate data collection, analysis, troubleshooting, and tester buyoff. This role ensures test quality, equipment readiness, and timely data reporting to support continuous manufacturing performance and quality improvement.

• Perform all types of DET Guzik and QMT testing, ensuring no delays and consistent, stable measurement results that meet Test Criteria
• Compile and upload test data to Online SPC timely to meet expected Test TAT, and continuously update all test requests and tracking documentation
• Conduct tester conversion buyoff, troubleshooting, and head changes as required
