Position Overview

A/P Chen Ying from Mathematics Department, National University of Singapore is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Research Associate (Full-Time) to lead the end-to-end design and development of interactive systems for cutting-edge optimization and machine learning (ML) models. Major Responsibilities

•    Project Management: Manage and prioritize multiple research projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and in alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies.
•    Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including cGMP, FDA, EMA, and other relevant standards. The A*STAR Skin Research Labs is seeking a Scientist with strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology to lead and support analytical research on the Digital Twin of Skin (DTS) and optical metrology of Asian skin. Skin is a remarkably complex organ, and our approach embraces this richness by decomposing it across multiple spatial and biological scales—nano, micro, and meso. At the nanoscale, this includes molecular and cellular information such as DNA, RNA, proteins, and other biochemical constituents, while higher scales capture tissue structure, optical properties, and functional responses.

The Digital Twin of Skin will integrate rigorous biophysical modeling with state-of-the-art AI methodologies into a unified framework that links mechanisms with data and prediction with interpretation. Importantly, the DTS will be explicitly tailored to address melanin-related challenges in Asian skin, including its influence on optical signatures, light–tissue interactions, and downstream diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy. By embedding melanin-aware modeling across scales, the platform aims to enable more accurate, equitable, and clinically relevant skin analytics.

This work sits at the intersection of physics, biology, and machine intelligence, and offers a rare opportunity to shape how skin health, diagnostics, and interventions are understood and developed for Asian populations.

Your Role & Impact:

• Inspire Young Minds: Teach Primary 1-6 Math and Science to small classes (max 14 students), with a strong focus on PSLE preparation.

• Deliver Dynamic Lessons: Engage students using our pre-prepared, high-quality materials, complete with experiments, real-life examples, and visual aids.

• Foster a Positive Learning Environment: Utilise your excellent classroom management skills to maintain discipline through engagement and encouragement, not scolding.

• Partner with Parents: Communicate student progress effectively using our provided templates and build strong parent-tutor relationships.

Who We're Looking For:

• Must-Haves:

  • A Diploma or Degree in a relevant field (Education, Math, Science, etc.).

  • At least 1 year of experience teaching small groups of primary school students.

  • A genuine passion for teaching and a desire to see students succeed.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

  • Able to work on weekends and weekday afternoons/evenings.

• Stand-Out Candidates Will Have:

  • Strong academic results in Math and/or Science (e.g., A at O/A Levels).

  • The ability to speak Mandarin to communicate with some parents and students.

  • A proven talent for managing a classroom with positive reinforcement.

The Details:

• Job Type: Full-Time

• Working Schedule: 5-day week (4 weekdays, 1 weekend)

• Working Hours:

  • Weekdays: 2:00 PM - 9:30 PM

  • Weekends: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Requirements

· Ph.D in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with more than 5 years of experiences in the area of specialty chemical manufacturing/applications, oil & gas or water treatment industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and optimize treatment and handling processes for existing, new, and unknown waste streams, ensuring technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Design and implement resource recovery processes from waste streams to enhance sustainability and value creation.
• Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to understand waste sources, identify treatment and recovery opportunities, support commercialization, and execute pilot trials.
• Identify, assess, and implement new technologies and processes, including collaboration with external partners (universities, research institutes, and technology providers).
• Establish and continuously improve laboratory capabilities, including process development and analytical methods to support R&D activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of existing operations through process optimization and introduction of alternative treatment methods.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, documentation standards, and all safety, health, and environmental requirements; maintain proper laboratory housekeeping.
• Support evaluation and development of handling procedures for high-risk and high-value waste streams.
• Contribute to new business development, including identifying opportunities, supporting new projects, and participating in facility planning and operations.
