We are looking for a Research Fellow. The role will focus on the development of hybrid integrated photonic devices and chip-scale experimental platforms for advanced sensing and information processing applications, for example, integrated photonic chips for precision optical sensing and on-chip experiments for emerging information technologies. The Research Fellow will work in a hands-on, interdisciplinary research environment and play an active role in shaping the group’s early experimental capabilities and research directions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and simulate integrated photonic devices and systems for sensing and information processing applications (e.g. Lumerical, COMSOL).

• Participate in nanofabrication activities for integrated photonic devices, working with PhD students and technical staff in cleanroom environments.

• Build and operate experimental setups for optical and electrical characterization, including fiber-based systems, free-space optics, and cryogenic platforms。

• Perform data analysis and performance evaluation of integrated photonic devices and experimental platforms.

• Collaborate with faculty members, researchers, and external partners on interdisciplinary research projects.

• Co-supervise graduate students and junior researchers in related research activities.

• Prepare research publications, technical reports, and presentations.

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in Applied Physics, Optics/Photonics, or a closely related field, with a background in integrated photonics, quantum optics, or quantum information science.

• At least 2 years of relevant research experience with hands-on experimental work in integrated photonics, optical or quantum photonic systems, or closely related areas.

• Experience in integrated photonic device design and numerical simulation using tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, or equivalent software.

• Experience with nanofabrication processes and cleanroom environments (e.g. lithography, thin-film processing, etching, device characterization) is an advantage.

• Experience with optical and opto-electronic experimental techniques, including fiber-based and free-space optical setups; familiarity with cryogenic or low-noise measurements is an advantage.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document research results and engage effectively with team members and collaborators.
