Project background

FHT2 is an NRF-CREATE programme co-funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF), ETH Zurich, and NHG-NTU, and represents the second phase of the FHT initiative launched in 2020. The programme brings together psychologists, neuroscientists, computer scientists, engineers and clinicians to develop next-generation digital health solutions.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of a cross-platform mobile and web application for cognitive health monitoring and support.

Working within a highly multidisciplinary team across the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC), NUS, and NTU, the Software Engineer will collaborate closely with researchers, designers, and clinicians to translate research prototypes into reliable and scalable software systems.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining mobile applications for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin), as well as contributing to the web-based frontend (ReactJS) and backend services (NodeJS). The candidate will implement features enabling user interaction with AI-driven conversational agents, integrate APIs and sensor data pipelines, and ensure smooth communication between frontend and backend systems.

The role also involves optimizing app performance, ensuring data security and privacy, and supporting deployment and testing in real-world environments. Selection Criteria

Strong programming skills and hands-on experience in modern software development are essential. In particular, candidates must have experience in:

• ReactJS for web frontend development
• NodeJS for backend development and API design
• Swift for iOS application development

Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain secure software applications using PowerShell, C++, Flutter, Dart, and Python.
• Incorporate UI/UX best practices to create user-friendly, efficient, and engaging interfaces.
• Review, debug, and optimize code to ensure performance, reliability, and security standards are met.
• Design and strengthen endpoint security capabilities, including malware and ransomware detection, exploit prevention, and intrusion detection mechanisms.
• Partner with security teams to implement secure coding standards and remediate identified vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including product managers, security analysts, and designers, to drive project success.

Requirements:

• Min Diploma Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable and tested features across the full stack — including responsive portal plugins using Next.js, Redux, and JavaScript, and backend services using Java, Python, and C++.

• Collaborate closely with QA, UI/UX, and DevOps engineers to ensure technical robustness and user-centric design.

Requirements

• At least 1–3 years of hands-on experience in software development.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language — Java, Python, or C++.
• Experience developing front-end applications using Next.js, Redux, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, object-oriented programming, and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, GitLab, Confluence).
• Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in teams.
• (Bonus) Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) or real-time/IoT systems.

Resident Technical Officer (Structural)

• Supervise and monitor structural works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and statutory requirements.
• Conduct in-progress inspections, identifying and reporting any non-conformities.
• Attend site coordination and quality meetings.
• Witness inspection and testing sessions to ensure adherence to designs and specifications.

• Preferred applicants with a Certificate in Building Construction Safety Supervisors Course (BCSS).
• Conversant in statutory codes and requirements.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
