This position is for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Singapore. 

Mission

As part of a project team:

• Act as the leader of the technical content of the project, and be the single point of contact regarding all project technical topics;
• Make sure customer technical requirements are fulfilled (in terms of performance, quality, costs, and time), in compliance with the contract, and based on the Architecture & Technical specifications defined during the tendering phase
• Lead a technical team composed of "customer project technical designers and engineers" and ensure technical coordination of all projects stakeholders
• Lead all technical aspects of customer integrated projects, such as design, implementation, testing, FAT in compliance with Singapore statutory requirement and industry standards.
• Manage technical risks and interfaces between the project team stakeholders and the customer; and get final customer approval of the overall technical solution designed and delivered in ensuring regulatory compliance (IEC, IEEE & NEMA)

Scope and Environment

• Part of a customer project execution/application center;
• Project technical teams are located spread among one or several sites/countries, requiring international collaboration with other functional teams/stakeholders.

What will you do?

Technical team coordination & management:

• Lead & approve the basic and detailed design of all technical aspects of an integrated solution, in line with customer and contract requirements (technical performance);
• Make sure the project technical team delivers according to the project planning;
• Monitor technical costs, make sure budget for the technical part is under control;
• Coordinate all technical implementation activities done at factories or supplier premises and testing facilities until project closure.

Technical coordination of project stakeholders:

• Work in close collaboration with PM & other technical designers and engineers who take care of part of the technical scope;
• Identifies whether specific expertise support is needed and coordinate the expertise actions if any;
• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of the sub-contracted parts of the project, in strong coordination with the procurement team;
• Act as a single point of contact for all project stakeholders regarding the technical content of the project; and ensure technical coordination among the project team.

Design & Implementation: according to her/his field of knowledge,

• Perform, review some design and specification activities, by leveraging Schneider Electric portfolio of products & systems in an optimized manner, in order to maximize profitability and limit technical risks; May perform some implementation/test activities (testing, FAT, etc).

Risk & Opportunity Management, Change management, Alert:

• Identify any potential changes versus contract or already agreed design;
• Work closely with PM to specify the changes and their implications for Schneider Electric (including cost impact evaluation), until getting a variation order.
• Alert PM of any substantial issue that could affect the project performance or customer satisfaction.

Customer interactions:

• Lead technical discussions and clarifications with customers.
• Act as the key and trusty contact person for all technical topics related to the project.

Quality process, Methods, Tools:

• Support PM to ensure full compliance with Schneider-Electric processes (especially CPP & TDP), and with quality instructions, safety requirements, and governance principles.
• Lead the technical team to correct any technical deviations or quality issues occurring during project execution.

Community of practices & Coaching:

• Take part in Technical Leaders' Community of Practice within her/his Execution Center, or globally within Technical Excellence Community network.
• Identify, get, formalize, share and promote lessons learned and best practices.
• Act as a role model and/or coach junior technical engineers and designers.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

Education

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

• 5 years in leading technical scope of projects in Power System or Electrical Distribution System application
• 5 years working in one or several engineering application domains: Power, Automation & Software, Telecom & IT, Cyber Security, Mechanical & HVAC, Structural.
• Technical experience in a specific market segment (e.g. Power GRID & Utility, OGP, MMM, F&B, etc..) or in a customer application/process is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechatronic or a related field. Professional engineering qualifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer) preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design engineering, with a proven track record in waste management or municipal equipment. Proficient in mechanical structural calculation.

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), and knowledge of engineering principles related to mechanical design and fabrication.

• Strong project management skills with experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects. LTA submission, compliance with safety regulations. Engineering support and correspondence to vehicular projects.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and effectively.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.

Your Job

As a Senior Engineer, Die Design, your primary responsibility is to lead and participate in the design and development process from concept to delivery. You will provide the best value working design solutions for technical problems. Collaboration with Product Designers, Procurement, Buyers, Stamping, and vendors is essential to meet project launch objectives.

Our Team

You will be reporting to the Principal Engineer, Die Design. In this role, you will frequently engage with external vendors and suppliers to ensure smooth processes and achieve project goals.

What You Will Do

• Lead the design and development from concept to delivery, providing effective solutions to technical challenges.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders, including Product Designers and Procurement, to achieve project objectives.
• Formulate the scope of works and develop design philosophies based on product design.
• Provide ballpark quotes and schedules for MIE during project launches.
• Highlight product design issues during design reviews and FMEAs.
• Conduct tooling design reviews using design guidelines and FMEAs.
• Design and develop tooling to support new product launches, ramp-ups, and FA closures until mass production.
• Collaborate closely with Toolmakers on FOT and Die Qualification.
• Work with procurement for quotations and vendor selection.
• Attend design review and progress meetings, acting as the primary point of contact for vendors.
• Coordinate with external vendors for design reviews, schedules, specifications, FA closures, and other technical issues.
• Drive new technologies and methodologies to effectively reduce lead time, cost, and quality.
• Improve tooling for QN, QAP, and yield loss reductions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• NTC 2 or Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in die debugging, fabrication, and building of progressive dies.
• 8 years of experience in the tool and die industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Siemen NX.

Job Requirements

Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from recognized polytechnics/university

Hands on experience in AUTOCAD

BIM experience will be an advantage.
