AEC Mount Waverley is on the lookout for experienced ECC vets — or GP vets who feel that spark when an emergency case walks through the door. We’re Melbourne’s first-ever emergency centre, purpose built from day one, and we’ll be celebrating 50 years next year. Our team is tight-knit, stable and low-turnover, and we’re only recruiting because one of our vets is heading overseas.

Emergency work is fast, varied and incredibly rewarding. One moment you’re stabilising a GDV, the next you’re guiding a family through a late-night crisis. There’s no such thing as a predictable shift — and that’s exactly why we love it. Many of our vets hold memberships or additional qualifications, so there’s always someone around to learn from, laugh with, or bounce tricky cases off.

All new vets come through our structured induction program, with supervised shifts and steady support from senior clinicians. Whether you’re already in ECC or stepping across from GP, you’ll never be left on your own.

What we’re looking for

• A veterinary degree registrable in Victoria
• ECC experience, or at least two years of GP experience with the confidence and curiosity to move into emergency
• A calm head, kind heart and strong communication skills
• Willingness to work a mix of day, night and weekend shifts

Dermatology Veterinary Nurse - Full Time & Part Time

• Immediate start available
• Full-time and part-time positions
• No weekends and no public holidays
• No on-call, very minimal overtime and no emergency pressure
• Work across Glen Waverley and/or Essendon Fields
• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) preferred

About the Role

Our Dermatology Department is seeking experienced and motivated Veterinary Nurses to join our supportive specialist team. These roles are ideal for nurses who enjoy delivering high-quality patient care while working in a well-structured, calm, and non-emergency specialist environment.

You will work closely with our dermatologists, assisting during consultations and procedures, and supporting patients and clients throughout their care journey. The department operates during regular weekday hours, allowing you to enjoy true work–life balance — when your shift ends, your time is your own. The dermatology nurse role also involves close communication and collaboration with internal medicine, surgery, veterinary behaviour and imaging to provide full patient care in one centre.

We currently have:

• One full-time role (4 days per week)
• One part-time role (2 days per week)

Working over both our Glen Waverley and Essendon Fields clinics. Some flexibility is available across our two locations depending on the living location of successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Assisting with specialist dermatology consultations and patient discharges
• Intradermal allergy testing
• Assisting with ear flushes, biopsies, laser procedures, MRI/CT, and hearing tests
• Supporting dermatologists during procedures and consultations
• Providing professional, compassionate client communication
• Contributing to the smooth daily workflow of a busy, specialist department

This role would suit a Veterinary Nurse who:
