This project aims to model the structural response of reinforced concrete structures under different impact loading conditions. The eventual structural response ranges from having localized damaged components, to a partial or total collapse of the building.

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant/ Research Associate (QC Analytical Chemist) in the Department of Clinical Imaging Research Centre (CIRC) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. CIRC is a dedicated molecular imaging research centre. It is equipped with on-site capability for the preparation of PET radiopharmaceuticals in a state-of-the-art GMP-certified facility. Purpose of the post

The QC Analytical Chemist will be responsible to, and work closely with Head of QC, to ensure the successful and safe release of radiopharmaceuticals manufactured at CIRC. The QC Analytical Chemist’s principal role will be to perform all quality control tests required by pharmacopeia. Alongside with maintaining the inventory of raw materials, maintenance of equipment and all the necessary documentation required for the QC laboratory in compliance to PIC/S GMP.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The QC Analytical Chemist will be responsible for:

• Performing routine QC release testing (HPLC, GC, radioTLC etc) on radiopharmaceutical to ensure quality and safe for clinical use in compliance with PIC/S GMP requirements.
• Support routine QC operations such as daily equipment checks, monthly standard calibration, documentation activities.
• Conducting routine microbial testing activities such as microbial plate incubation, sterility testing, bioburden testing, etc and liaising with third party contractors if required.
• Managing raw materials, including inventory control, purchasing, receipt and status tracking of raw materials.
• Developing and validating QC test methods for the radiopharmaceutical QC release testing.
• Assisting in preparation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIN), Recordsheets (REC), etc and fill in Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR).
• Supporting in the managing of equipment in the QC and Metabolite laboratories, including qualification, operation, maintenance, cleaning, calibration and re-qualification activities.

Job Description

The Research Fellow (RF) will conduct research in the field of coastal dynamics, with a focus on the development and application of machine-learning-enhanced coastal models. The project aims to advance nearshore hydrodynamic modelling by integrating data-driven and physics-based approaches for simulating wave propagation, wave transformation, and wave–current interaction from deep water to shallow coastal environments.

The successful candidate will work on developing and improving depth-integrated, phase-resolving coastal models, with machine learning techniques incorporated to enhance model accuracy, efficiency, parameterisation, uncertainty quantification, and/or surrogate modelling. The research may involve the use of observational, experimental, or high-fidelity numerical data to train, validate, and improve model performance.

The developed model will be applied to coastal engineering problems, including wave transformation, nearshore circulation, and extreme coastal processes. Depending on the project needs, the model may also be coupled with high-resolution CFD models to enable multi-scale coastal process modelling.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking for highly motivated Research Fellow to join an industry-facing research programme on:
Harnessing Regional Tropical Timber and Bamboo for Sustainable and Durable Mass Engineered Timber Products for the Tropics. 

This multidisciplinary project aims to develop and validate sustainable, low-carbon Mass Engineered Timber and Bamboo products for tropical climates, including Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam), Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), Glued Laminated Bamboo (Glubam), and Laminated Bamboo Lumber (LBL). The work will focus on the use of regional tropical timber and bamboo species to support more cost-effective, durable, and structurally reliable building solutions for Singapore, Southeast Asia, and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The appointed Research Fellow will work closely with academics, industry partners, timber manufacturers, testing laboratories, certification bodies, consultants, and regulatory stakeholders. The project is designed to move beyond laboratory research toward practical deployment, product qualification, regulatory acceptance, and industry adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Fellow will contribute to experimental research, data analysis, technical documentation, standards review, and industry engagement. Responsibilities include:

•    Timber and Bamboo Testing, Grading, and Classification
Conduct mechanical testing of timber, bamboo, lamellae, finger-jointed specimens, and full MET products; determine key material properties such as strength, stiffness, density, moisture content, shear, and tensile performance; support lamellar strength classification; analyse results against relevant standards; and translate findings into practical design data.

•    Product Development and Design Data

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking for highly motivated Research Fellow to join an industry-facing research programme on:
Harnessing Regional Tropical Timber and Bamboo for Sustainable and Durable Mass Engineered Timber Products for the Tropics. 

This multidisciplinary project aims to develop and validate sustainable, low-carbon Mass Engineered Timber and Bamboo products for tropical climates, including Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam), Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), Glued Laminated Bamboo (Glubam), and Laminated Bamboo Lumber (LBL). The work will focus on the use of regional tropical timber and bamboo species to support more cost-effective, durable, and structurally reliable building solutions for Singapore, Southeast Asia, and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The appointed Research Fellow will work closely with academics, industry partners, timber manufacturers, testing laboratories, certification bodies, consultants, and regulatory stakeholders. The project is designed to move beyond laboratory research toward practical deployment, product qualification, regulatory acceptance, and industry adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Fellow will contribute to experimental research, data analysis, technical documentation, standards review, and industry engagement. Responsibilities include:

•    Timber and Bamboo Testing, Grading, and Classification
Conduct mechanical testing of timber, bamboo, lamellae, finger-jointed specimens, and full MET products; determine key material properties such as strength, stiffness, density, moisture content, shear, and tensile performance; support lamellar strength classification; analyse results against relevant standards; and translate findings into practical design data.

•    Product Development and Design Data
Develop practical product recommendations, including suitable product sizes and configurations, mechanical design properties, characteristic values, technical design tables, product summaries, and inputs for design guides. Compare tropical MET products with imported products and map regional performance data to Eurocode-equivalent requirements.

•    Factory Production Control and Certification Readiness
Review international and regional practices for factory production control, quality assurance, audit, and certification; engage with manufacturers, testing laboratories, certification bodies, and stakeholders; and develop practical recommendations for product qualification and industry adoption.

•    Fire Performance Testing
Conduct fire performance testing and interpret fire-related test data for timber, bamboo, and MET products.

•    Standards Review and Eurocode Equivalence
Review relevant international and regional standards, including Eurocode, JIS, ISO, AS/NZS, Malaysian Standards, and China National Standards, to support the development of Singapore standards and Eurocode-equivalent pathways for the use of tropical timber and bamboo.

The project, “Enhancing Concrete Resilience in Singapore: Evaluating Limestone as an Alternative for Concrete Applications,” aims to assess the feasibility, performance, durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of limestone-based concrete. The research will support Singapore’s efforts to diversify construction material sources, strengthen supply-chain resilience, and develop more sustainable concrete solutions.

About the Role
The Research Fellow will work with a multidisciplinary NUS team and industry partners to evaluate limestone aggregates and fines for structural concrete applications. The work will cover material characterisation, concrete mix design, mechanical and durability testing, recyclability, cost analysis, and potential long-term field monitoring.

This role is well suited for candidates with expertise in concrete technology, cementitious materials, aggregate characterisation, durability, sustainable construction materials, or structural concrete testing.

Key Responsibilities:
The Research Fellow will contribute to:

•    Characterising limestone aggregates and fines from different regional sources and comparing them with conventional granite aggregate, natural sand, and granite fines.
•    Designing and optimising concrete mixes incorporating limestone materials for commonly used concrete grades, including C32/40, C40/50, and up to C50/60.
•    Testing fresh concrete properties such as workability, slump retention, stability, and fresh density.
•    Evaluating hardened concrete performance, including compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, elastic modulus, creep, shrinkage, and density.
•    Assessing durability performance, including alkali–aggregate reaction, sulphate and acid attack, chloride ingress, carbonation, permeation, and elevated-temperature behaviour.
•    Supporting reinforced concrete specimen testing, non-destructive testing, recyclability studies, and cost analysis.
•    Contributing to technical reports, journal publications, conference papers, and practical guidelines for industry adoption.
