As a Public Area Supervisor, you will oversee the upkeep of all guest-facing and back-of-house public spaces while leading a team to ensure a welcoming, safe, and immaculate environment at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Public Area Operations

• Conduct routine inspections of lobbies, corridors, washrooms, event spaces, restaurants, and other public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are consistently met.
• Monitor the condition of furnishings, fixtures, décor, plants, and public facilities, arranging replacements or corrective actions when required.
• Ensure both guest-facing and back-of-house areas remain clean, organised, and well-maintained.
• Coordinate cleaning schedules to support daily operations, special events, and peak guest periods.

Team Leadership

• Assign daily duties and monitor the performance of Public Area Attendants.
• Provide coaching, on-the-job training, and guidance to maintain service and cleaning standards.
• Assist with manpower planning, attendance monitoring, and roster preparation.
• Promote a positive team culture while ensuring staff adhere to grooming and workplace standards.

Equipment & Inventory Management

• Oversee the proper use, storage, and maintenance of cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and ensure adequate stock availability.
• Ensure chemicals are handled and stored safely in accordance with hotel policies.
• Report equipment defects and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.

Maintenance Coordination

• Identify maintenance issues within public areas and liaise with Engineering for timely rectification.
• Follow up on repair requests to ensure guest-facing areas remain in optimal condition.
• Support preparations for VIP visits, functions, and special hotel events.

Guest Experience & Quality Assurance

• Ensure all public spaces reflect the hotel's luxury standards and create a positive impression for guests.
• Address guest feedback relating to cleanliness or public areas promptly and professionally.
• Implement corrective measures and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall presentation and service quality.

Administration & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance requests, inventory usage, and team attendance.
• Support departmental cost-control initiatives through efficient resource management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and operational standards at all times.
• Promote safe working practices and maintain a secure environment for guests and colleagues.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in housekeeping or public area operations, preferably with supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemical handling procedures.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high presentation standards.
• Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Public Area Supervisor to be part of the team in Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that our Resort meets the exceptional standards of cleanliness which is expected of our brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations: Oversee and where necessary, undertake the cleaning and maintenance of public areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other common spaces. Such tasks include but are not limited to sanitizing, dusting, cleaning and other related duties.
