Roles & Responsibilities

This entry-level position supports the Fuel Department across fuel operations, data analysis, and digital initiatives, while providing exposure to marine fuel strategy and sustainability developments.

The role is designed to develop future talent, offering opportunities to contribute to operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and cross-regional collaboration, particularly with stakeholders in Singapore and Japan.

1. Fuel Operations Support

• Assist in monitoring marine fuel procurement activities, including price tracking and supplier evaluation
• Support the preparation of operational reports and performance analyses
• Assist in handling fuel-related disputes and maintaining claims documentation

2. Data Analysis & Reporting

• Collect, organize, and analyze fuel-related data (e.g., pricing, consumption, and trends)
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders
• Support data-driven initiatives to enhance cost efficiency and transparency

3. Digital & Process Improvement Initiatives

• Support ongoing digital transformation projects within the Fuel Department
• Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of analytical tools and systems
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational processes

4. Sustainability & Regulatory Support

• Assist in tracking fuel emissions and environmental performance
• Support the preparation of reports aligned with internal decarbonisation goals and external regulatory requirements (e.g., IMO, FuelEU, ISCC)
• Conduct research on alternative fuels and emerging industry developments

5. Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with internal departments (Operations, Technical, Finance) to support data and reporting requirements
• Coordinate with regional stakeholders, including teams in Japan
• Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and documentation for management

Job Requirements

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data tools (e.g., Python, Power BI) is an advantage
• Good organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams

Language Requirements

• Proficient in English (spoken and written)
• Fluency in Japanese (spoken and written) is an advantage to support regional collaboration

Additional Requirements / Advantages

• Experience or exposure to AI or Agentic AI-related workflows is an advantage
• Knowledge of the bunker fuel market, including fuel types (e.g., HSFO, LSMGO), bunker standards, and international regulations is preferred
• Prior experience in maritime shipping is required

Roles and Responsibilities

• Stakeholder Communication & Issue Resolution
  Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and regional offices, to identify issues and drive efficient problem-solving through collaborative strategies and timely decision-making.
  

• Team Leadership & Development
  Provide clear direction, mentorship, and guidance to team members, ensuring roles and responsibilities are regularly reviewed and organized to support team development, expand operational scope, and improve overall performance.
  

• Operational Coordination & Space Management Optimization
  Collaborate with DYM/GPM and Trade Management teams to initiate and lead discussions aimed at optimizing space control processes (downstream and post-booking), developing efficient operational frameworks to support ONE’s global operations.
  

• KPI Management & Project Oversight
  Establish, monitor, and manage KPIs for projects and operational units, including metrics such as space utilization rates, booking efficiency, project completion timelines, and regional rollout success to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

• Regional Project Implementation
  Ensure successful rollout of projects across regions by coordinating with GHQ teams, conducting follow-ups, compliance checks, and supporting continuous improvement to maintain consistency and scalability across the network.
  

• Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency
  Oversee the development and implementation of process improvements in space management by incorporating stakeholder feedback to reduce inefficiencies and improve downstream logistics operations.
  

• Technology Integration & Innovation
  Lead cross-functional initiatives to introduce and integrate new technologies or tools into space control workflows, assessing their impact on team productivity and operational efficiency.
  

  Job Requirements
  

  Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in container shipping or commercial/trade operations

  Technical Skills (Must-Have)

  • Proficiency in Python, dashboarding tools, Excel/Google Sheets

  • Strong project management experience

  Soft Skills (Must-Have)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proactive in engaging stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Effective team leadership and collaboration; able to motivate and provide direction
