The Senior Lead Data manages a team to deliver high-impactreporting, analytics and fit-for-purpose data solutions within the ITdepartment. The role partners business stakeholders to translate priorityquestions into actionable insights, sets clear delivery priorities, and coachesteam members on analytics best practices. Supporting reliable data pipelinesand curated datasets (working with internal IT teams and vendors as needed), maintainsagreed data definitions, quality checks, and ensures dashboards and analysesare adopted to support operational and decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and develop a data/analytics team: set goals and ways of working, coach and review work quality, support performance conversations, and build capability through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Partner business stakeholders to define analytics questions, success measures and requirements; translate needs into clear user stories/briefs, prioritise work, and assign delivery across the team.
• Oversee and (where needed) contribute hands-on to the delivery of dashboards, reports and analyses (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Fabric, Cubot, SQL/Python) that provide timely, trusted insight for operational and clinical stakeholders.
• Maintain curated datasets and data models for reporting and analytics, setting team standards for documentation, reusable logic and peer review of changes (working with relevant stakeholders as needed).
• Own practical data governance for assigned domains (data definitions, access requests/approvals routing, quality checks and documentation) in line with organisational privacy and security requirements.
• Manage the intake and prioritisation of analytics requests; balance demand vs team capacity, track delivery status/risks/dependencies, and provide regular updates on commitments and timelines.
• Drive adoption of analytics outputs by defining validation and sign-off steps, coordinating training and communications, and tracking usage/impact with stakeholders.
• Coordinate with data platform/system owners on pipeline enhancements needed for reporting and analytics; plan team inputs, support UAT, and escalate delivery risks/issues when required.
• Standardise KPIs and reporting logic for assigned areas; maintain a simple metrics catalogue/data dictionary and review dashboards to ensure consistent definitions and quality.
• Where approved, lead delivery of simple predictive or automation solutions by scoping the work, ensuring testing and documentation, and setting up basic monitoring with agreed owners.
• Coordinate vendor and internal IT deliverables for assigned initiatives (e.g., data extracts, fixes, enhancements), validate outcomes with the team, and manage day-to-day follow-ups and escalations.
• Provide input for tooling/licensing needs (business justification, usage and access model) and oversee basic administration activities where required (e.g., workspace access, dataset refresh checks).
• Ensure the team follows applicable privacy and security requirements (e.g., access controls, de-identification where required) and maintain evidence/documentation for audits when requested.
• Continuously improve analytics assets and team ways of working (performance, usability, data quality, documentation and peer review), and propose small, low-risk enhancements.
• Maintain simple ways of working for analytics delivery (intake, prioritisation, documentation and handover), support onboarding, and contribute to data literacy by sharing guides, definitions and best practices.
• Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences; coach team members on executive-ready narratives and recommendations, and ensure analysis is documented and repeatable.

• Support analytics adoption by briefing, enabling and coaching business stakeholders on new data products, dashboards and self-service capabilities; contribute to organisation-wide data literacy initiatives.
• Maintain and update data/analytics governance documentation and records (e.g., data dictionaries, definitions, access approvals, SOPs, controls evidence) in accordance with organisational standards and audit requirements.
• Ensure operational continuity of data and analytics services by providing escalation support, coordinating incident/problem resolution with IT and vendors, and arranging coverage for critical deliverables when required.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in data/analytics (BI/reporting, data modelling, and data management), including at least 1–2 years in a people lead/line management role (e.g., coaching, work allocation, performance feedback).
• Working knowledge of data governance and data quality practices (definitions, access controls, documentation) and awareness of privacy/security requirements; able to follow established policies and support audits when required.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate business problems into analytical solutions and communicate insights as executive-ready recommendations.
• Ability to plan and deliver analytics work using Agile/iterative approaches, including requirements clarification, stakeholder communication, issue/risk tracking and handover of deliverables.
• Strong proficiency with data and analytics technologies (e.g., SQL and Python), BI/visualisation tools, and dimensional/semantic modelling to enable trusted self-service analytics.
• Hands-on understanding of modern cloud data platforms and patterns (e.g., Azure, Databricks, lakehouse/warehouse, ELT/integration), including reliability, performance and cost optimisation considerations.
• Experience applying analytics methods to business problems (descriptive/diagnostic; predictive is a plus), with the ability to document assumptions, validate results and explain limitations to stakeholders.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on measurable outcomes, adoption and continuous improvement.
• Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries, with an appreciation of clinical/operational workflows and data privacy considerations.
