About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our project team for a major building and infrastructure project located on Penang Island.

This is a site-based position. You will play an important role in coordinating construction activities and assisting in the successful delivery of the project in accordance with approved drawings, construction programme, quality requirements, and safety requirements.

This role requires close coordination with the management team, consultants, and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or other related construction / engineering disciplines.

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in building construction, infrastructure works, M&E works, site coordination, or project engineering.

• Experience in site coordination, subcontractor management, consultant coordination, drawing coordination, or construction progress follow-up.

• Experience in reviewing construction drawings / shop drawings, coordinating site works, preparing or assisting in method statements, and arranging site inspections will be an advantage.

• Familiar with construction processes, construction methods, building materials, site quality requirements, and safety management requirements.

• Site Operations: Supervise day-to-day operations to ensure structural, civil, and architectural works are executed according to approved specifications.
• Quality & Compliance: Monitor workmanship and materials to meet regulatory standards. Process Requests for Information (RFIs), method statements, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Safety Enforcement: Work with the safety officers to ensure OSHA/DOSH safety regulations are implemented.
• Mentorship & Coordination: Guide junior site engineers. Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and authorities to streamline inspections and site logistics.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Typically 8+ years of hands-on site experience, often with specialized industry construction experience
• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certifications (e.g., BEM/IEM in Malaysia) are heavily preferred for senior roles.
• Skills: Proficiency in project scheduling tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera) and engineering software (AutoCAD, BIM).

Job Position : Site Engineer (Infra)

Responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and coordination of construction machinery on site. Ensure all equipment (e.g. excavators, JCB, lorries, bulldozers, compactor, tractor) is used efficiently, safely, and in line with project requirements.

Coordination & Supervision

• Ensure all works are carried out based on established procedures, contract requirements and specifications
• Managing site-related matters including site work arrangement, leading site workers, coordination with sub-con, execution of work safely, and arranging necessary meetings and discussions to update and resolve site issues.
• Attend project meetings and progress reporting
• Liaise with Client/Architect/Consultant on-site technical matters

Machinery & Equipment Management

• Plan and coordinate daily usage of construction machinery
• Monitor machine productivity and utilization

Maintenance & Repairs

• Schedule preventive maintenance for all machinery

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Steam Engineer located in Kulai. The Steam Engineer will be responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a 20-ton water tube boiler system, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous steam supply for production needs.

The role includes analyzing technical issues, diagnosing and resolving operational challenges, and implementing effective solutions to optimize boiler and steam system performance. The Steam Engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting equipment, carrying out preventive maintenance, and ensuring all systems operate in compliance with safety regulations and DOSH/JKKP requirements.

In addition, the role requires maintaining proper operational records, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, and collaborating with engineering and production teams on maintenance and improvement projects to support overall plant efficiency and reliability.

Qualification

1. Possess valid Steam Engineer competency certificate (DOSH/JKKP) – mandatory
2. Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (preferred)
3. Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial boiler operation, specifically 20-ton water tube boiler system
4. Strong knowledge in steam generation system, boiler operation, safety interlocks, and water treatment control
5. Proven experience in boiler monitoring, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in high-capacity boiler plant
6. Familiar with DOSH/JKKP regulations, OSHA safety standards, and statutory compliance requirements
7. Able to read and interpret technical drawings, P&ID, and boiler operation manuals
8. Strong analytical skills with high attention to safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability
9. Able to work in shifts, respond to emergency breakdowns, and support continuous plant operation (24/7 environment if required)
10. Good teamwork and communication skills with production and maintenance teams
