About the Role

As a Hardware Engineer (SGEP Talent), you will join Rapsodo’s Device team and contribute to the design, development, and validation of sports technology products used by athletes worldwide.

This role offers hands-on exposure across the hardware development lifecycle, from early concept and prototyping through testing, iteration, and production. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including firmware, embedded systems, algorithms, product, and manufacturing, gaining a holistic understanding of how hardware integrates into complete product systems.

What You Will Do

• Own defined hardware tasks or sub-systems, from initial design through testing and iteration
• Proactively investigate design challenges, identify root causes, and propose practical solutions
• Contribute to schematic design, PCB layout, prototyping, and validation activities across products
• Drive hardware bring-up, debugging, and testing, using lab equipment to validate performance
• Work closely with firmware, embedded, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Support component selection, lifecycle evaluation, and design revisions

• A recent graduate or early career professional, with less than 3 years of working experience

Other Requirements

• This program is open to Singaporean and Permanent Residences in active undergraduate and graduate university programs with less than 3 years of work experience

We are building a hardware-software product that deploys Android-based edge devices in commercial environments.

The device operates in a real-time, always-on mode and must perform reliably in production settings, with zero tolerance for failure during active operation.

Most of the surrounding software stack — cloud backend, web dashboards, and mobile applications — is developed with the assistance of AI tooling under close human direction. The edge device hardware layer is the one part of the system where physical iteration on real hardware is required.

Role Overview

You will own the edge device systems layer end-to-end, including:

• USB hardware I/O
• Custom Android (AOSP) ROM
• Device security
• Field testing and deployment

You will also review and guide Kotlin application code (including AI-generated output) to ensure correctness, safety, and alignment with system constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain USB pipelines (Host & Gadget), ensuring strict latency and timing requirements
• Test, validate, and debug USB and hardware compatibility issues in real-world environments
• Build and maintain a custom Android (AOSP) ROM with system-level modifications, including:
• Kiosk mode and restricted production environments
• Auto-start, watchdog services, and cellular connectivity (APN/modem)
• OTA updates with staged rollout and rollback
• SIM lock and device control mechanisms
• Implement and enforce device security, including:
• Secure boot, locked bootloader, and full-disk encryption
• Hardware-backed attestation (Keystore / TEE)
• Certificate pinning, mTLS, and signed payload verification

• Define and execute device provisioning workflows, including field testing and hardware validation

We are building computer-vision capabilities on Linux-based edge devices. This role owns the embedded software that takes models from “works on a workstation” to “runs reliably, efficiently, and measurably fast on-device.” You will develop and optimize inference pipelines, integrate vendor runtimes on NPUs/MPUs, and work close to the Linux kernel when needed (performance, memory, I/O, and driver interactions).

What you will do

• Build and maintain production-grade embedded software for on-device computer vision inference (camera ingest, preprocessing, inference, postprocessing, telemetry) primarily in C++, with Rust as an option where appropriate.
• Integrate and run deep learning models using edge runtimes/toolchains (e.g., TensorRT, TFLite, OpenVINO, ONNX Runtime, vendor SDKs for NPUs/MPUs).
• Profile and optimize end-to-end performance: latency, throughput, memory footprint, power, and thermal constraints.
• Implement deployment-oriented model optimizations when needed (quantization workflows, operator compatibility fixes, graph optimizations, runtime-specific conversion).
• Work on Linux-based embedded platforms: cross-compilation, build systems, packaging, and reliable field deployment.
• Debug complex system issues across the stack: kernel/user-space boundaries, driver/I/O bottlenecks, memory contention, and multi-threaded performance.
• Collaborate with model/CV stakeholders to ensure models are edge-ready (I/O specs, accuracy vs. performance tradeoffs, validation on target hardware).
• Establish and uphold engineering standards: code quality, test strategy, CI, performance benchmarks, and observability on-device.

Required qualifications

• 7–8+ years professional experience in embedded software development, with significant time shipping Linux-based products.
• Strong expertise in C++ (modern C++11/14/17); Rust experience is a plus (or willingness to use Rust where it benefits reliability/performance).
• Strong Linux systems knowledge, including at least some of: kernel fundamentals, device I/O, scheduling, memory behavior, and profiling/debugging tooling (e.g., perf, ftrace, eBPF).
• Working knowledge of computer vision and deep learning inference concepts (pipelines, tensors, common CV tasks, latency/accuracy tradeoffs). You do not need to be a model developer/researcher, but must be fluent in deploying and running models.
• Experience optimizing inference for edge hardware (NPUs/MPUs/GPUs/accelerators), including quantization and runtime constraints.
• Master’s degree minimum in a relevant field (Computer Vision, Machine Learning/Deep Learning, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related).

• Camera stacks and media pipelines (V4L2, GStreamer, ISP integration).
• Embedded build and deployment toolchains (Yocto/Buildroot, CMake/Bazel).

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer (C++) who wants to move beyond pure software development and work on real-world systems where code directly interacts with physical devices.

This is not a typical backend or application role.

About the Role

We are seeking an NPI Engineer to bridge product development and manufacturing, and driving new sports-technology products from conception through launch. You will serve as the primary interface across embedded, hardware, firmware, algorithms, software, suppliers, and factory operations - delivering products that are technically sound, manufacturable at scale, on budget, and on schedule.

What you Will Do

• Partner with the Product Owner to shape product roadmaps and translate decisions into clear engineering and manufacturing deliverables.
• Communicate progress, risks, and key technical decisions to stakeholders across functions

The work is hands-on, multidisciplinary, and grounded in real physical outcomes — turning complex motion into precise, actionable insight at global scale.

We are looking for a hands-on, versatile Mechanical Engineer who thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership, and enjoys solving complex problems across the full product lifecycle. You will play a key role in bringing new products to life and elevating existing ones, working at the intersection of design, performance and manufacturability.

What you will do

• Design and engineer robust, production-ready products optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and performance.

• Turn ideas into reality - translate customer and market needs into clear engineering specifications and innovative solutions.

• Own the outcome - anticipate risks, make informed trade-offs, and build resilient backup plans to keep projects moving forward.

• Validate what you build - test, iterate and refine designs to meet high standards across functionality, reliability, and compliance.

• Contribute to mantaining and improving system quality across the entire product lifecycle.

• Work closely with cross-functional and global teams to solve real-world challenges

• Participate in design studies (independently and in teams) to solve technical or consumer issues found in the development of a product. 

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or related field of study. Relevant master's degree is added advantage. 

• Demonstrated interest and solid portfolio of case parts and/or mechanism design. Preferred experience in consumer electronics type products. 

• An Understanding of injection moulding, die casting and common manufacturing techniques and finishes.  

• A creative and considered approach to problem solving, following clear design processes with pragmatic approach to balance cost and value. 
• Strong aptitude for problem solving and ability to organise and prioritize work
• A resourceful, adaptable, and proactive team player

• Experience to verify performance through empirical testing as well as analytical models.
