Job Description

Augmented Human Lab, at the Smart Systems Institute, National University of Singapore is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to work on the co-design and development of human–robot collaboration interfaces for high-risk operational scenarios such as chemical spill response and urban search-and-rescue.

The Research Assistant will work on designing, prototyping, and evaluating interactive systems that integrate explainable on-device AI and small language models (SLMs) to support human operators in making faster, safer, and more confident decisions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, especially research fellows and industry partners.

This role is ideal for candidates interested in applied HCI research, rapid prototyping, user-centered design, and translational AI systems progressing from early-stage concepts toward system-level demonstrations

Major responsibilities:

• Support requirements gathering with domain experts and industry collaborators, including field observations, interviews, and task analysis.
• Assist in the design of interfaces that promote shared mental models, transparency, and explainability in human–robot collaboration.
• Develop UI prototypes and interaction concepts through iterative user-centered design cycles with end-users.
• Run benchmarking experiments and user studies with human operators, including experimental setup, data collection, and post-trial analysis.
• Contribute to dissemination activities, including conference papers, posters, demos, and documentation.
• Participate actively in lab meetings, project reviews, and collaborative workshops with academic and industrial partners.

Experience and Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputable university in Computer Science, Engineering, HCI, or a related field.
• Strong programming experience in at least one of: Python, C/C++, Java, Swift.
• Familiarity with UI prototyping frameworks or mobile/interactive systems development.
• Experience working with experimental systems, data collection pipelines, and basic statistical analysis.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Following skills will be an added advantage Experience with human-centered design, usability testing, or interaction design for complex systems. Exposure to machine learning pipelines, deployment on edge devices, or embedded platforms. Familiarity with development environments and platforms such as VS Code, PyCharm, Xcode, Android Studio, or ADB tools. Experience with hardware prototyping platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, or similar microcontrollers. The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant/ Research Associate in the Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HPTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.  The HPTRP aims to bring together researchers from a wide range of disciplines with an interest to maximise human potential. In HPTRP, focusing only on human studies, we aim to adopt a holistic perspective that considers human potential as an integrative measure of health, productivity, performance, human capital and overall well-being over the lifespan, in our environment. Appointments will be made on two-year contract, with the possibility of further extension.

Purpose of the post

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to coordinate data collection and support research operations under the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) birth cohort study.  The Research Assistant/Associate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigators and study team members to ensure the successful completion of GUSTO projects on time. The RA’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as data collection, data entry and analysis and drafting of publications and reports.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant/Associate will liaise with the relevant personnel to smooth the process of recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator(s).

The Research Assistant/Associate will be expected to:

1. Conduct surveys and interviews with children, adolescents, and parents at KK Children’s and Women’s Hospital. 
2. Manage the participant reimbursement schedule.
3. Maintain data security and confidentiality according to PDPA. 
4. Draft ethics approval forms in accordance with IRBs. 
5. Conduct extensive work with data, including organization, cleaning, coding, and analysis. 
6. Train and supervise undergraduate research assistants. 
7. Provide timely updates of the study to PI/Project Manager. 
8. Work flexibly with participants across a range of settings (e.g. hospital, university research lab), and hours (e.g., some weekends and evenings). 
9. Additional research and administrative duties (e.g. preparation of manuscripts for publication, conference presentations, purchases, grant reports).
10. Perform literature review, data analysis and drafting of reports and publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, or related disciplines 

• Strong background in developmental research and experimental design

NUS Cities at the College of Design and Engineering is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to join a research project to investigate the relationship between natural environment, perceptions and affordances, and motivations to use for health promotion purposes. The contract will be for 18 months with possible extension subject to funding availability.

Job scope:
1.    To undertake high-quality research in human and nature relationship for health promotion.
2.    To conduct systematic reviews relevant to human and nature relationship for health promotion.
3.    To conduct spatial study (field, desktop) and social studies (e.g., surveys, photo elicitation, focus groups).
4.    To manage and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
5.    To contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.

Qualifications
