Job Summary

You will nurture young learners to become fluent, confident readers using the 5 Elements of Reading Instruction and teach English Language skills to Primary 1 to 6 students, balancing academic progress with lifelong learning.

Responsibilities

• Nurture young learners to develop fluent and confident reading skills through the 5 Elements of Reading Instruction
• Model and teach clear standard English pronunciation to ensure correct sound production from the start
• Teach receptive English skills: reading, listening, and viewing to Primary 1 to 6 students
• Teach productive English skills: writing, speaking, and representing to Primary 1 to 6 students
• Instruct students on language knowledge including grammar and vocabulary to enhance their English proficiency
• Use company-provided, regularly updated teaching materials and resources to deliver lessons effectively
• Participate in teacher training sessions including lesson observation and co-teaching to align with company standards
• Commit to scheduled working hours on weekdays and weekends, minimizing leave during the academic calendar

Required competencies and certifications

• Degree in English, Linguistics, or teaching-related field from a reputable university (academic requirement)
• Ability to express themselves clearly in standard English to role model correct pronunciation for young learners

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Initial teaching experience (welcomed but not required due to company training provided)
• Passion for working with young learners and fostering their development

Working Hours:

• Weekdays: 2.00pm to 9.10pm (3 days between Monday to Friday)
• Weekends: 8.45am to 6.35pm (Saturday and Sunday)
• Teachers should minimize leave during course periods according to the academic calendar

My English School is a group of learning centres that works at building essential English foundation for children to be successful in school and life. We offer a leading-edge Reading programme (including phonics) and an English Primary programme. These programmes are offered at 15 locations island wide.

Job Description:

In this role, you will be nurturing young learners to be a fluent and confident reader through the 5 Elements of Reading Instruction. A clear standard English pronunciation is important to teach the students the right way of pronunciation from the start.
You will also be teaching English Language to students from Primary 1 to 6, striking a balance between academic progress and learning for life. The EL skills include:

Receptive Skills : Reading, Listening and Viewing
Productive Skills : Writing, Speaking and Representing
Knowledge about the Language : Grammar and Vocabulary

All teaching materials/resources which are in-house developed and updated regularly are provided by the company. So there is no requirement for teachers to create own materials.

Furthermore there is a teacher training for all incoming teachers where materials and processes are introduced in combination with lesson observation and co-teaching.

· Love and enjoy working with young learners.

· Initial teaching experience would be welcomed but is not a requirement; the company will conduct a teacher training for incoming teachers.
