About the role…

ALP, an innovative firm specializing in logistics property development, is seeking an Account Executive to support our growing operations in Malaysia. The role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to full set accounts, financial reporting, and compliance functions.

Internally, this role works closely with the finance team and contributes to both accounting operations and tax-related matters.

What you will do…

1. Reporting & Accounting Support
2. Manage full cycle of Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, verification, and posting
3. Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of journals, accruals, and prepayments
4. Prepare and maintain schedules for balance sheet accounts and ensure proper supporting documentation
5. Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies in financial data
6. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
7. Liaise with external auditors by preparing audit schedules, supporting documents, and responding to audit queries
8. Monitor and improve internal controls over financial reporting processes
9. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and proper expense recognition
10. Tax Management & Compliance
11. Support the preparation of corporate tax computations and tax returns
12. Assist in indirect tax compliance and reporting
13. Liaise with tax agents and support tax audits or queries
14. Ensure proper tax treatment in accounting transaction
15. System & Process Improvement
16. Support ERP/finance system implementation and enhancement
17. Ensure accurate tax and accounting configuration in accounting systems
18. Develop and maintain SOPs for accounting processes
19. Support any ad-hoc matter assigned by management

What skills are required…

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
2. At least 5 years of experience in Accounts, 2-3 years of relevant experience in direct and indirect tax functions.
3. Strong experience with ERP systems; SAP knowledge is highly advantageous.
4. Excellent analytical skills, detail-oriented, and capable of working under tight deadlines.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to liaise across departments and with external auditors.

Responsibilities:

1. Audit Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, executing, and completing statutory audits and internal audits according to audit standards.
• Perform audit testing, verify financial records, and ensure compliance with accounting principles (e.g. MFRS/IFRS).
• Prepare audit working papers, documentation, and supporting schedules.
• Identify and communicate accounting or audit issues to the Audit Senior or Manager.
• Ensure audit assignments are completed within the allocated time and budget.
• Liaise with clients to obtain necessary information for audit purposes.
• Prepare draft audit reports and financial statements.

1. Tax Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing and filing corporate and individual tax returns.
• Support in tax computation, tax planning, and compliance with local tax laws and regulations (e.g. LHDN in Malaysia).
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure timely submission of tax forms.
• Handle basic tax correspondence and communicate with clients on tax-related queries.
• Keep updated with changes in tax regulations and accounting standards.

• Collaborate with team members and maintain good working relationships with clients.
• Support seniors or managers in any ad-hoc audit or tax assignments.
• Uphold professional ethics, confidentiality, and integrity in all work processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Preferably pursuing or completed professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA, CPA, MICPA).
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and basic tax regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting/audit software (e.g. SQL, Audit Express, CaseWare).
• Good analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team under minimal supervision.
