Established to answer the nation's demand for cement, Tasek Corporation Berhad was incorporated in 1962 as Tasek Cement Limited and listed on the stock exchange the following year. It commenced cement production in 1964 with an annual rated production capacity of 250,000 tonnes at its present plant in the Tasek Industrial Estate, Ipoh against the backdrop of scenic limestone hills and excellent infrastructure. Since then, Tasek had embarked on a series of multi-million ringgit expansions in tandem with the country's development, culminating in the latest rehabilitation and expansion programme designed to increase the plant's annual clinker production to 2.3 million tonnes per year.
Cement is produced at the Company's plant in Ipoh which operates 24 hours a day. Cement is then transported by road or rail direct to the users. Cement is also sent to its packing and distribution terminal at Sungai Buloh for storage, packing and channelling to strategic distribution centres and to users in the Central and Southern regions. Tasek is also an active member of the Cement and Concrete Association of Malaysia or the C&CA, contributing to defining the direction and growth of cement manufacturers in Malaysia.
