About the Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP)

Optimizing the performance of health systems is essential to ensuring the wellbeing and longevity of populations worldwide. Singapore is particularly well placed to lead research in this field as its health system has been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world based in independent evaluation with the Global Burden of Disease data. The Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP) aims to advance research in this area within the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the leading centre for research in health systems in Asia with the following core functions:

1. Research: empirical and methodological research and evidence synthesis on health systems performance with a particular focus on Value Based Healthcare.
2. Health policy intelligence: health policy impact analysis aimed at policy makers, service providers, researchers, and the wider public.
3. Capacity building: formal postgraduate programme (from certificates to PhD), fellowships,  mentoring, on-the- job and ad hoc training

Purpose of the Post

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate will:

• Interpret and critically appraise analytical results, including cross-checking outputs against existing evidence, identifying implausible estimates, and investigating discrepancies before accepting findings.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and competencies are required or preferred:

Academic Background

• Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, social sciences, medicine, or other quantitative disciplines.
• Basic working knowledge of epidemiological measures (e.g. incidence, prevalence, mortality rates, age-standardized rates, disability-adjusted life years) is required.
• Prior research experience is an advantage but is not strictly required.

Analytical & Technical Skills

• Proficiency in R or Python for data wrangling, analysis, and visualization. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the logic and validity of their analytical steps, not only the mechanics of running code.
• Familiarity with statistical concepts, including measures of central tendency, regression models, uncertainty estimation, and data quality assessment.

This Candidate will be working on a renewable project to support projects on energy storage sizing, integrating distributed energy resources, renewables, and other advanced technologies into the grid. The successful candidate may also support analysis and development of microgrids for resiliency. This position may help other team members to help analyse, integrate, and optimize components such as energy storage, renewable energy and generators in coordination with local buildings, microgrids, and grid operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct advanced research and analysis in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for tidal flow, wind dynamics, hydrodynamics, fluid–structure interaction, and off shore environmental systems.
• Develop, validate, and apply numerical and experimental models for tidal energy, wind flow behavior, marine structures, and coastal engineering applications.
• Design and conduct controlled laboratory experiments, including wave tank testing, aerodynamic and hydrodynamic flow studies, flow visualization, and sensor-based measurements.
• Plan and execute field experiments involving in-situ tidal and wind measurements, environmental monitoring, and data collection using advanced sensing and instrumentation systems.
• Perform simulation and performance analysis under varying environmental and operational conditions, including turbulence, extreme waves, wake effects, biofouling, and climate-induced marine conditions.
• Analyze CFD results and experimental data to support system optimization, performance enhancement, and engineering design improvements for marine and renewable energy systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, marine, environmental, and energy engineering domains to support integrated research and technology development activities.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a closely related discipline specializing in hydro dynamics, fluid mechanics, CFD, or offshore engineering.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant research or industry experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), hydrodynamics, fluid flow analysis, offshore/marine engineering, or related experimental and numerical investigations.
• Strong understanding of marine hydrodynamics, wave–current interactions, aerodynamic and hydrodynamic principles, offshore environmental conditions, and numerical modelling methodologies.
• Proficiency in CFD and engineering simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX,STAR-CCM+, Open FOAM, or equivalent software platforms.
• Practical programming and data analysis skills using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar scientific computing environments.
• Experience in laboratory-based experimental studies, including wave tank testing, flow visualization, instrumentation setup, sensor integration, systematic data acquisition, and technical documentation under research project requirements.
• Exposure to field-based testing and environmental monitoring activities, including deployment of sensing systems, in-situ measurements, and collection of hydrodynamic or wind-related operational data.
• Capability in prototype and experimental system development using CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent platforms, including coordination with vendors and suppliers for fabrication, assembly, and refinement of engineering components and test setups.
• Good technical writing and presentation skills with the ability to prepare research reports, technical documentation, journal publications, project deliverables, and presentation materials.
• Competency in data interpretation, post-processing, visualization of CFD and experimental results, and engineering problem-solving related to fluid dynamics and renewable energy systems.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams while managing multiple project activities and timelines effectively.

The research associate will work on statistical and mathematical modelling projects. Major duties and responsibility of the post includes:

- have two years of research experience in mathematical or statistical modelling applied to the field of epidemiology

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking multiple determined full-time Research Associate(s) to join a new group led by Dr Angkana T Huang.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on one of several research projects using computational methods to understand the mechanisms underpinning the ecology and evolution of dengue and related arboviruses across Asia and globally. The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant/ Research Associate (QC Analytical Chemist) in the Department of Clinical Imaging Research Centre (CIRC) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. CIRC is a dedicated molecular imaging research centre. It is equipped with on-site capability for the preparation of PET radiopharmaceuticals in a state-of-the-art GMP-certified facility. Purpose of the post

The QC Analytical Chemist will be responsible to, and work closely with Head of QC, to ensure the successful and safe release of radiopharmaceuticals manufactured at CIRC. The QC Analytical Chemist’s principal role will be to perform all quality control tests required by pharmacopeia. Alongside with maintaining the inventory of raw materials, maintenance of equipment and all the necessary documentation required for the QC laboratory in compliance to PIC/S GMP.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The QC Analytical Chemist will be responsible for:

• Performing routine QC release testing (HPLC, GC, radioTLC etc) on radiopharmaceutical to ensure quality and safe for clinical use in compliance with PIC/S GMP requirements.
• Support routine QC operations such as daily equipment checks, monthly standard calibration, documentation activities.
• Conducting routine microbial testing activities such as microbial plate incubation, sterility testing, bioburden testing, etc and liaising with third party contractors if required.
• Managing raw materials, including inventory control, purchasing, receipt and status tracking of raw materials.
• Developing and validating QC test methods for the radiopharmaceutical QC release testing.
• Assisting in preparation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIN), Recordsheets (REC), etc and fill in Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR).
• Supporting in the managing of equipment in the QC and Metabolite laboratories, including qualification, operation, maintenance, cleaning, calibration and re-qualification activities.
• Supporting Production in Research & Development activities when required.
• Maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping within QC laboratories, raw material storage areas, and the cyclotron facility.
• Handling chemical and biohazard waste disposal activities for QC department in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Adhering to the university’s safety and health policies and guidelines.
• Performing environmental monitoring activities in cleanroom facilities, including environmental and airborne particle sampling, when required
• Undergoing cross-training to support routine radiopharmaceutical manufacturing activities in Production, where necessary.
• Any adhoc duties assigned in support of departmental and operational needs

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Personnel should be comfortable with:

• exposure to radiation when handling radioactive samples.
• handling of chemicals for QC testing (flammables, acids, and bases).
• Handling chemical and biohazard waste
• Occasion lifting heavy objects such as lead shield containment (lead pots)
• Comfortable with routine and repetitive work
• Standard working hours with occasional overtime

Qualifications

The applicant should:

(a) Have a minimum of BSc degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, pharmacy or a related field;

(b) Good knowledge and experience on GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or GLP (Good Laboratory Practice);

(c) Preferably hands-on experience with operating and maintaining analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, and also aseptic isolator for sterility testing.

(d) Have good analytical processing skills, as well as,

(e) Have good critical thinking and proactiveness at work
