Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Steam Engineer located in Kulai. The Steam Engineer will be responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a 20-ton water tube boiler system, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous steam supply for production needs.
The role includes analyzing technical issues, diagnosing and resolving operational challenges, and implementing effective solutions to optimize boiler and steam system performance. The Steam Engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting equipment, carrying out preventive maintenance, and ensuring all systems operate in compliance with safety regulations and DOSH/JKKP requirements.
In addition, the role requires maintaining proper operational records, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, and collaborating with engineering and production teams on maintenance and improvement projects to support overall plant efficiency and reliability.
Qualification
- Possess valid Steam Engineer competency certificate (DOSH/JKKP) – mandatory
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial boiler operation, specifically 20-ton water tube boiler system
- Strong knowledge in steam generation system, boiler operation, safety interlocks, and water treatment control
- Proven experience in boiler monitoring, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in high-capacity boiler plant
- Familiar with DOSH/JKKP regulations, OSHA safety standards, and statutory compliance requirements
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings, P&ID, and boiler operation manuals
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability
- Able to work in shifts, respond to emergency breakdowns, and support continuous plant operation (24/7 environment if required)
- Good teamwork and communication skills with production and maintenance teams
