Summary of Role

This position is within GlobalFoundries RF Design Enablement team with focus on ground rule development and Silicon Validation (GRV).The Ground Rule Validation (GRV) is part of the Design Manual Engineering (DME)/Design Enablement team that creates and supports the Design Rules based on technological, manufacturing and business considerations. The Design Manual itself is one of the key components of the Process Design Kits (PDKs) provided by GF.

These Design Rules (or Ground Rules) must be carefully engineered and qualified to ensure the competitiveness and manufacturability of GF technologies. This qualification is performed by the Ground Rule Validation team.

The Design Manual Engineering (DME) team is a very dynamic and international team of experts, involved in development projects with the US, Germany, and Singapore manufacturing sites.

The team is also a very active player in GF innovation and patent submissions. We cover a broad range of projects, which offers many opportunities for new technical solutions and ideas.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Program Managers, Manufacturing teams (Process Integration), Customer engineers, Benchmarking teams to identify and understand the key technological features that need to be controlled and secured by Design Rules.

• Create layout Designs of Experiment (DoE) and design Test Structures that will be delivered on Test vehicles.

• Perform rigorous Silicon data analysis and efficiently communicate the conclusions to Design Rule engineers, as well as Integration teams.

• Champion modifications of process or Design Rules based on data to optimize GlobalFoundries’ technology portfolio.

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.

• After taking the GRV training curriculum, the new team member will start with the technologies manufactured in Fab9/8 (US) or Singapore.

• His/her primary role will also include the GRV validation of the transfer technologies to ensure the full compatibility of the current Design Rules with the respective fabrication line.

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or other relevant engineering disciplines.  

• Strong data analysis, data mining and problem-solving skills.  

• Understanding of semiconductor process fabrication flow, nanofabrication, solid state and semiconductor device physics and design of experiments (DOE) methodology 

• Strong interpersonal skills; team player; able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong written and oral communications skills 

• Familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso Virtuoso Schematic Editor, Virtuoso Layout Suite, Calibre (DRC, LVS) is a big plus.

Preferred Qualifications 

• MS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Computer, Solid State Physics, Materials Science, or other relevant engineering discipline plus 0-2 years of Semiconductor industry experience in device, process integration or unit process areas preferred.

This position is for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Singapore. 

Mission

As part of a project team:

• Act as the leader of the technical content of the project, and be the single point of contact regarding all project technical topics;
• Make sure customer technical requirements are fulfilled (in terms of performance, quality, costs, and time), in compliance with the contract, and based on the Architecture & Technical specifications defined during the tendering phase

Scope and Environment

• Part of a customer project execution/application center;

What will you do?

Technical team coordination & management:

• Lead & approve the basic and detailed design of all technical aspects of an integrated solution, in line with customer and contract requirements (technical performance);
• Make sure the project technical team delivers according to the project planning;
• Monitor technical costs, make sure budget for the technical part is under control;
• Coordinate all technical implementation activities done at factories or supplier premises and testing facilities until project closure.

Technical coordination of project stakeholders:

• Work in close collaboration with PM & other technical designers and engineers who take care of part of the technical scope;
• Identifies whether specific expertise support is needed and coordinate the expertise actions if any;
• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of the sub-contracted parts of the project, in strong coordination with the procurement team;

Design & Implementation: according to her/his field of knowledge,

• Perform, review some design and specification activities, by leveraging Schneider Electric portfolio of products & systems in an optimized manner, in order to maximize profitability and limit technical risks; May perform some implementation/test activities (testing, FAT, etc).

Risk & Opportunity Management, Change management, Alert:

• Identify any potential changes versus contract or already agreed design;
• Work closely with PM to specify the changes and their implications for Schneider Electric (including cost impact evaluation), until getting a variation order.
• Alert PM of any substantial issue that could affect the project performance or customer satisfaction.

Customer interactions:

• Lead technical discussions and clarifications with customers.
• Act as the key and trusty contact person for all technical topics related to the project.

Quality process, Methods, Tools:

• Support PM to ensure full compliance with Schneider-Electric processes (especially CPP & TDP), and with quality instructions, safety requirements, and governance principles.
• Lead the technical team to correct any technical deviations or quality issues occurring during project execution.

Education

Experience

Project Overview

This project aims to develop a real-time blood analysis and diagnostic platform using an integrated microfluidic chip. As part of project execution, the role will require frequent travel to Johor Bahru, Malaysia to support validation and product transfer activities at the third-party manufacturing site. Accommodation and meal expenses for extended stays will be covered by the company.

Job Scope:

• Lead and support product and process transfer projects to third-party manufacturing partners, ensuring a smooth and compliant transition from internal operations to external manufacturing sites.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute validation activities related to design transfer, including validation of facilities, equipment, utilities, materials, manufacturing processes, cleaning processes, and computerized systems.
• Ensure all validation activities are properly planned, executed, and documented in accordance with regulatory requirements, company quality standards, and internal SOPs.
• Review and approve validation documentation, including protocols, reports, and supporting technical documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and external manufacturing partners to ensure successful technology transfer and project delivery.
• Identify and resolve technical and compliance issues during the validation and transfer process while ensuring adherence to project timelines.
• Maintain well-organized validation documentation and records to support regulatory inspections, internal audits, and quality compliance.
• Provide on-site support and coordination during validation and transfer activities at third-party manufacturing sites when required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in validation within a regulated industry such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device manufacturing.
• Knowledge of validation lifecycle, cGMP, cGDP, and ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
• Experience supporting design transfer, technology transfer, or manufacturing transfer projects.
• Communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Ability to manage multiple validation activities and adhere to project timelines in a fast-paced project environment.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Technical Lead & Solution Architect to anchor the technical direction of complex banking product and platform builds delivered to global financial institutions. The role blends deep engineering leadership with architecture ownership: setting technical standards, designing scalable and secure solutions, leading interface and API development, and steering agile squads through multi-wave delivery across both cloud and on-premises environments. The successful candidate has progressed from senior engineering into a mid-level architecture remit within IT services and/or banking product organisations, and is comfortable operating between code, design authority forums, and client-facing technical governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Solution & technical architecture — own end-to-end solution design for product and integration workstreams; produce HLDs/LLDs, component models, sequence flows and non-functional specifications; chair or contribute to design authority / architecture review boards.

• Engineering leadership — lead technical squads (onshore/offshore) across the full SDLC; set coding standards, branching strategy, code-review discipline and definition-of-done; act as senior escalation point for technical risk.

• Interfaces & API development — design and govern system-to-system interfaces and API contracts (REST/SOAP, event/streaming, file-based and messaging); own interface cataloguing, versioning, schema governance and backward-compatibility strategy.

• Product engineering — drive feature engineering on core banking / transaction-banking products; balance configurability vs. customisation, manage technical debt, and uphold productisation principles for reusable, multi-tenant builds.

• Agile delivery — run agile ceremonies as technical lead; translate epics into technical stories, estimate with the team, and protect velocity while maintaining quality gates and CI/CD discipline.

• Cloud & on-premises deployment — architect for both cloud-native (containers, managed services, IaC) and on-premises data-centre topologies; address HA/DR, scalability, observability and environment management for each.

• Non-functional & security — embed performance, resilience, scalability and security-by-design; partner with infosec on threat modelling, secure SDLC, secrets management and compliance to banking regulatory expectations (e.g. MAS TRM where applicable).

• Client & stakeholder engagement — present designs and trade-offs to bank architecture teams, CIOs and technical SteerCos; defend decisions, manage dependencies and align on integration landscapes.

• Mentorship — coach senior and mid-level engineers, conduct technical assessments, and raise the engineering bar across the delivery centre.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• 12–15 years in software engineering with demonstrable progression into a technical lead and mid-level architect role.

• Proven experience across both IT services organisations and software product companies, with substantial exposure to the banking / financial services domain.

• Track record of leading agile product engineering and complex systems integration / interface development for enterprise-grade platforms.

• Hands-on delivery experience across both cloud and on-premises implementations.

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent; recognised architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF) and/or relevant cloud certification is an advantage.
