Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior level, Linux system administrator to support and maintain enterprise Linux infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, security, and performance of Linux servers supporting business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise Linux server environments across development, testing, production, and disaster recovery platforms.
- Perform Linux operating system installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor system health, availability, and performance, and implement corrective actions to ensure service reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Linux operating system, infrastructure, and application-related issues within agreed service levels.
- Conduct root cause analysis for system incidents and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issues.
- Support capacity planning, system performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization initiatives.
- Manage Linux services, including file systems, storage, logical volume management (LVM), DNS, NTP, and user access administration.
- Implement and maintain server security controls, system hardening standards, and access management procedures.
- Develop and maintain shell scripts and automation tools to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with application, database, network, and infrastructure teams to support project implementation and production releases.
- Participate in change management activities, including impact assessments, implementation planning, and post-change validation.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure business continuity requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configuration records.
- Assist with audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements by providing supporting documentation and evidence.
- Provide technical guidance to junior team members and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure support within enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Oracle Linux, or equivalent Linux distributions.
- Strong knowledge of Linux server administration, system troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
- Experience in Linux patching, operating system upgrades, and production support activities.
- Working knowledge of Linux clustering, high-availability configurations, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Experience with shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell) and automation of routine administration tasks.
- Good understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SSH, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of system security, access management, vulnerability remediation, and server hardening practices.
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and incident management processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and support critical production environments.
