Job Description:

Our Japanese buy-side client is looking for an Analyst to join their team. As a Business Research Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive business analyses and market research for our fund investment partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough business analysis of current and potential investment partners as well as the business environment and regulations of the countries in which they are located at.

• Identify patterns and market trends across industries and regions to assess the feasibility and soundness of the partners' businesses.

• Perform company analysis and provide support for investment projects, ensuring effective post-investment follow-up.

• Conduct research and analysis on potential new investment opportunities.

• Prepare reports and presentations for internal investment committees or community stakeholders.

• Review and evaluate contractual agreements related to investment activities in English.

• Create persuasive slide decks and reports for HQ.

• At HQ's request, visit our collaborating investment partners to better understand their business environment.

• Other ad-hoc duties including general affairs related matters as assigned by the Management.
  

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business research, market research, or a related field.

• Sound understanding of funds and investments.

• With related experience in performing quantitative research on private companies.

• Fluent in Japanese (business level or above) to liaise with Japanese-speaking stakeholders and HQ in Japan will be an advantage.

About the Role

We are looking for a driven and commercially-minded individual to join us as an Associate Director, Strategy & Corporate Development to support and execute the firm’s strategic growth initiatives across global markets.

This role sits at the core of Alta’s expansion strategy, with a focus on M&A, strategic investments, partnerships, and market development. You will work closely with senior management to evaluate opportunities, execute transactions, and support key initiatives that drive the firm’s long-term growth.

Some Of The Key Responsibilities Include

M&A and Strategic Execution

• Support the identification, evaluation, and execution of M&A, investment, and partnership opportunities
• Conduct financial analysis, valuation, and due diligence across potential transactions
• Assist in managing end-to-end deal processes from initial assessment through to execution

Strategy & Market Development

• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and identify growth opportunities across regions
• Support strategic planning initiatives, including new market entry and business expansion

Stakeholder Management

About You

• Minimum 5 years of experience in investment banking, Big 4 corporate finance, corporate development, or strategy roles. Exposure to the technology and/or fintech sector is preferred.

• Proven track record in building complex financial models (e.g. LBO, M&A, NPV/cash flow, partnership structures) and conducting valuation analyses to support strategic transactions.

• Hands-on experience in transaction execution, including mergers & acquisitions, partnerships, or similar strategic initiatives.

• Strong understanding of financial services, fintech, and/or private markets is advantageous.

• Highly analytical with strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
