Role Summary
- Hands-on role reporting to the Senior Project Engineer
- End-to-end project ownership: from customer enquiry through engineering design, fabrication coordination, site installation, and commissioning
- Approximately 50% office-based (AutoCAD, calculations, proposals) and 50% site-based (factory assessments, installation supervision, troubleshooting)
- Manage 5–10 active projects concurrently across industrial sectors
Key Duties
- Design dust collection, ventilation, and fume extraction systems in AutoCAD — equipment layout, ducting, hood design, filter sizing
- Conduct site assessments: walk operating factories in PPE, measure existing setups, identify installation constraints
- Size equipment to ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Manual, NFPA standards, SS 658, and SS 667
- Prepare technical proposals, bills of materials (BOMs), and customer quotations
- Coordinate with in-house workshop on fabrication and subcontractors on installation
- Supervise site installation, commissioning, and air balancing
- Troubleshoot post-handover performance issues and recommend corrective actions
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building Services, or HVAC/ACMV
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Mechanical, MEP, ACMV, HVAC, ductwork, ventilation, or industrial process equipment — site exposure to factories or process plants preferred
- Daily AutoCAD proficiency
- Comfortable working on industrial sites in full PPE (semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical plants, metal fabrication shops, food factories)
- Advantageous: Prior experience with dust collectors, fume extractors, paint booths, or oil mist systems (Donaldson, Camfil, Nederman, Filtermist, Plymovent, etc.)
- Advantageous: Knowledge of explosion protection standards (NFPA 484/660/68/69, ATEX, SS 667)
- Advantageous: HVAC commissioning, air balancing, or test & balance background; cleanroom or pharmaceutical installation experience; ability to read P&IDs, isometric piping, and electrical schematics
