As an engineer, both hands-on development and technical leadership are big parts of the job. You’ll be a key technical stakeholder in our feature planning process, helping to map complex business requirements to technical solutions and offering your ideas and opinions. As our Software Engineer, we know you’ll be doing significant learning on the job. That said, we’re hoping you’ll bring:

• 3-6 years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience in multiple object-oriented and/or functional programming languages. We’re language-agnostic in our hiring, but have JavaScript/Node, Rails, Python and others in our ecosystem stack
• A strong sense of what it takes to build a scalable, secure and cloud-native application architecture
• Able to choose the right coding pattern for the job, including around building easily testable code (if not via pure TDD, at least leveraging those principles)
• Good experience with source control systems like Github or Bitbucket, and how they work within a team
• Strong code review habits, leading by example on being proactive and constructive with comments and conversations among your peers
• Excellent knowledge data modeling in both relational and non-relational databases

JOB DESCRIPTION

we are looking for an experienced individual with a background in SWIFT-related business domains (standards, payments and securities) and a strong technical knowledge in trading system to join our Reserves and Securities Management Team.  You will be responsible to provide in-depth expertise in SWIFT-related business/technical flows and provide oversight of SWIFT technical design and oversee the review of the SWIFT infrastructure architecture blue-prints with collaboration from MAS internal cross-functional IT and operations teams to ensure the architectural designs meet all there Requirements.

You will be the Point-of-Contact (POC) for the third party’s SWIFT technical team to review and provide guidance on the SWIFT infrastructure implementation planning and co-ordinate with MAS internal teams to ensure resource availability.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the financial services, in particular in a technical business lead role
• Extensive experience with banking operations, back-office business operations or back-office system integration knowledge
• Strong technical background, with good understanding of SWIFT’s products, services and applications, including SWIFT Alliance Gateway, SWIFT Alliance Access, SWIFT Web Access, SWIFTNet, FIN messaging and ISO 20022 formats
• Strong knowledge of payments and securities messaging and their flows is a must
• Good understanding of SWIFT’s Customer Security Program (CSP) and the proposed controls by SWIFT 
• Identify and pull together the business process owners and the third-party SWIFT team to oversee the modelling of business process
• Review the process using BPM, and coordinating with the third-party SWIFT team to ensure the processes are automated processes, and adopted by business process owners
• Act as the primary contact with MAS functional team and translate the requirements to the third-party analyst and developers when necessary to automate processes
• Review and develop test cases to ensure the test coverage is comprehensive

Responsibilities

1.    Maintain and evolve the core order management system, owning the full order lifecycle from pre-validation, cost calculation, and margin checks through to execution, fill processing, and position update, for spot trading.

2.    Develop and optimize the cross-engine (matching integration) layer, building and maintaining the protocol between the business logic engine and the matching core, handling order entry, cancel, replace, and fill response state machines with strict correctness guarantees.

3.    Drive low-latency and high-throughput improvements, profiling hot paths, eliminating dynamical locations on the critical path, applying lock-free data structures, zero-copy techniques, and cache-friendly memory layouts to hit and sustain sub-millisecond order processing targets.

4.    Build and maintain risk and margin calculation modules, implement initial margin, maintenance margin, liquidation price, and position cost logic for cross and isolated modes across linear, inverse, and portfolio margin account types.

5.    Support multi-region active-activeengine deployment, ensuring deterministic state replication, sequenceconsistency, and fast failover across data centres with no loss of in-flightorders.

6.    Contribute to engine observabilityand correctness tooling, latency histograms per order path, state-machine audittrails, anomaly detection for margin miscalculations, and chaos/regression testframeworks.

7.    Participate in on-call rotation,diagnosing and resolving production incidents involving order state divergence,position corruption, or abnormal liquidation behaviour under time pressure.

Qualifications

·       5+ years of production C++ development, with meaningful timespent on exchange infrastructure, trading systems, or financial technology.

·       Proficient in modern C++ (C++17/20): move semantics,template metaprogramming, RAII, and performance-oriented idioms, not justwriting correct code but writing fast, deterministic code.

·       Direct experience maintaining or extending a trading engine,OMS, or matching system at a crypto exchange, prop trading firm, or traditionalbrokerage is strongly preferred.

·       Deep understanding of low-latency systems design: lock-freequeues, memory pool allocation, NUMA-awareness, avoiding syscalls on the hotpath, and minimising branch misprediction.

·       A strong grasp of concurrent programming, without relying onlocks on the critical path, understanding of memory ordering, atomicoperations, and the C++ memory model.

·       Experience with order state machine design — handlingcomplex transitions with full auditability.

·       Familiarity with financial calculations — fixed-pointarithmetic, scaled integer representation (e8, e4 price/qty formats), roundingmodes, and the hazards of floating-point in trading contexts.

·       Comfortable with protobuf / SBE / FlatBuffers or similarbinary serialization for low-latency inter-service messaging.

·       Rigorous about correctness, comfortable reasoning about edgecases in order-quantity arithmetic, position over-closure, and fee rounding atscale.

·       Able to read and contribute to deeply unfamiliar codequickly, the engine codebase is large, and velocity requires confident codenavigation.
