Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to take part of the CX Team. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality deliverables, spanning across multiple key services powering end to end user journeys going from the login screen to the home and activity pages of the Grab app. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager for this role. This is an onsite role based in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design and write with the cutting edge Go language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services
• Work with engineering team to explore and create new design / architectures geared towards scale and performance
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Engage in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning and optimization
• Collaborate with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications
• Own end-to-end delivery of product and tech initiatives
• Work closely with infrastructure team in building and scaling back-end services as well as performing root cause analysis investigations
• Design, build, analyze and fix large-scale systems
• Pro-actively debug and solve production incidents during your oncall shift
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing to peers.

Get to Know the Role

You will directly report to the Engineering Manager of the Core Experience Growth Team. As a significant and autonomous contributor to your team, your team will trust you with designing their software systems with high quality. You will take an active role in your projects as a team member and involve yourself from design to rollout, taking ownership of your work and always focusing on moving your projects forward. This is an onsite role based in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Collaborate with mobile and backend engineers, designers, data scientists, and product managers to build features.
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards.
• Brainstorm ideas, identify problems, propose and implement solutions geared towards scale and performance.
• Take full ownership of projects that are built to meet functional and non-functional requirements of our users and partners.
• Design, implement, instrument and deploy performant and reusable iOS components.
• Lead Collaboration with partners across teams and roles, to resolve ambiguous, multi dimensional business, legal, and product needs.
• Participate in interview loops to help Grab continue hiring top industry talent.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing to peers.
