YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Be familiar with user research methods and have the capability to turn large research studies into actionable insights.   

• Drive design/usability audits and heuristic evaluations.  

• Visualize, design and conceptualize the user experience.  

• Present concepts and UX solutions as compelling stories to clients.  

• Have great communication and presentation skills, be an active listener and be able to represent the users’ needs as well as gather user requirements.  

• Lead co-creation & journey mapping sessions. Possess a solid understanding of design research methodologies.  

• Create detailed wireframes, define interaction specifications and build clickable prototypes. 

• Mentor and advice junior designers 

YOUR PROFILE 

You are passionate about new technologies, digital innovations, and design. You might be working in large teams or as an individual contributor; however, you have a fair understanding of Agile environments. 

You would be excited about taking on challenges of client projects and would be willing to initiate UX design activities in such work environments. 

You are also curious about how AI is changing the digital design space, and have actively explored and picked up relevant skills and tools. 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Multimedia, Information Architecture, Human Computer Interaction, Instructional or Graphic Design, or a related field. 

• At least 4-6 years of experience in the field of UXUI, product design 

• Understanding of motion design, HTML, CSS and other technical platforms. 

• Knowledge of design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, and/or other design tools 

• Experience leveraging on AI tools for UX research and UI design work e.g. Figma Make, Claude, ChatGPT, Replit, GitHub Copilot, etc. 

• Experience designing digital experiences web and mobile platforms. 

• Experience in agile development processes. 

• Good communication skills and the ability to present your designs to clients and teams. 

• Demonstrated ability to oversee project timelines and ensure deliverables are met according to schedule 

• Skilled in managing client relationships and engaging with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to guarantee alignment and successful outcomes

Gensler’s Critical Facilities practice is looking for a talented technical designer to join our team. We are looking for a candidate with experience in the design and delivery of high-tech, new development architecture projects—whether for data centers, high density labs, advanced manufacturing, or other complex critical facilities. You will be a key team member to help expand our capabilities in support of our clients' expansion initiatives.  The ideal candidate will be adept in the design and technical elements of project delivery.  

Your Role

As a Gensler Senior Technical Designer, you will work with design team to produce projects that are of technical excellence. You’re a fit for this role if you have experience in construction documentation, are proficient in Revit, and enjoy working with a team of highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovation problem solving and design excellence and realization.

 What You Will Do

• Provide expertise by reviewing and providing technical viewpoint/advice on all local construction documents to ensure compliance with firm-wide standards, building systems, codes and regulatory requirements.

• Support and set the project up for technical excellence and success project delivery.

• Responsible for setting up and managing the technical standards and submission processes and documentations.

• Track circular updates from the authorities and provide awareness to the office on recent changes in statutory guidelines or COPs as part of the continuous professional development.

• Possess extensive code knowledge and able to address and solves related questions from various stakeholders.

• Reviews feedback from client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design and may attend some client interviews.

• Lead the work in the preparation, reviewing and documentation of architectural/technical documents for submission, tender and construction purposes.

• Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of project.

• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction.

• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.

• Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.

• Be an advocate for Gensler sustainability commitments internally and externally.

• Make sustainability an integral part of every project.

• Define project sustainability targets in collaboration with the client and the project team at the start of each project.

• Understand clients ESG goals and work with project teams towards achieving them.

• Support and encourage team members to pursue sustainability learning.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture

• At least 15+ years of project experience, preferably in Critical Facilities projects (i.e. data centers, command and control centers, high-performance computing, etc.) or similarly complex projects that may include science laboratories/ national laboratories, high-tech manufacturing light- industrial/ manufacturing, healthcare, aviation & transportation, etc.).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills that work well in an interdisciplinary, fast-paced environment
• Strong time management and organizational skills are imperative to juggle multiple tasks, clients and resources
• Must be a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve both individually and as a part of a project team

• Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through successful project delivery

• Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills

• Extensive experience in construction document preparation, including detailing and field observation.
• Knowledge of building materials, specifications and construction techniques specific to core and shell architecture is required.

• Strong Revit skills, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office experience desired. AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay are also beneficial.

Job Description

• To assist the Architectural Associate/ Architect in his/her duties
• Preparing planning applications and other regulatory application procedures;
• Preparing design proposals using computer-aided design (CAD) and traditional drawing methods;
• Assisting in the detailed design process and co-ordinating design information;
• Preparing/updating tender documentation and construction drawings;
• Liaising with appropriate authorities (e.g. Planning enquiries and technical officers) to obtain statutory approval;
• Attending site visits and recording minutes/discussions
• Assisting project architect in coordinating site issues
• Producing and analysing detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used in construction;

Job Requirements

• Relevant Degree in Architecture
• At least 2 years of relevant working experience
• Proficient in Vray renderer, 3D max, Adobe Photoshop and Sketch-up
• Must have Knowledge with 3D Autocad, Revit & BIM
• Relish working in a challenging and fast-paced environment
• Possess a flair for creativity and a keen eye for detail
• A proactive and conscientious team player
• Advantageous to have design experience in commercial, mixed-use and residential projects
