Responsibilities
- Lead migration of legacy applications from Sybase to modern platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, or cloud-based databases).
- Analyse existing PowerBuilder applications and Sybase database structures to define migration strategy and scope.
- Refactor, optimise, and modernise PowerBuilder code to ensure compatibility with target systems.
- Perform database schema conversion, data mapping, and data migration with minimal disruption to operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during migration, including performance bottlenecks and data inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to validate functional requirements post-migration.
- Develop and execute unit, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT) plans for migrated applications.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Document technical designs, migration processes, and post-migration support procedures.
- Provide post-migration support, enhancements, and continuous improvement of applications.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in PowerBuilder development with strong exposure to Sybase databases.
- Proven experience in system migration projects (Sybase to SQL Server/Oracle or similar).
- Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, database design, and performance tuning.
- Ability to work independently and manage end-to-end migration activities with strong problem-solving skills.
