We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative R&D Food Chemist to develop and improve functional food and dietary supplement products, including beauty-from-within formulations. The role involves formulation, testing, regulatory compliance, and product commercialization. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with the sales/marketing team to write product proposals, providing label information, and supporting customer inquiries.
Responsibilities:
1.) Product Formulation:
- Develop new supplement and functional food products (powder, liquid, capsules)
- Reformulate existing products to improve taste, stability, and cost efficiency
- Conduct bench trials, pilot batches, and scale-up production
- Select suitable raw materials, active ingredients, and excipients
- Evaluate ingredient compatibility and chemical stability
2.) Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Assist in evaluating and selecting raw materials, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements as HACCP, NPRA.
- Collaborate with 3rd party laboratory testing and analysis to ensure product safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, formulations, and test results. Prepare technical reports and presentations as required.
- Stay updated with relevant regulations and guidelines related to health food products and ensure compliance in product development and labeling.
3.) Production Support:
- Work closely with production team for trial runs and troubleshooting
- Optimize manufacturing processes to reduce wastage and improve efficiency
- Support scale-up from lab to commercial production
4.) Customer / Marketing Support:
- Work closely with the sales/marketing team to understand market trends and consumer preferences and assist in writing product proposals and marketing materials.
- Collaborate with sales or directly with customers to provide label information, nutritional data, and technical support as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory changes related to health food product development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or Master’s in Chemistry, Nutrition, Food Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in food product development, preferably in the health food industry.
- Strong understanding of nutritional science, food chemistry, and regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and techniques for formulation and testing.
- Detail-oriented, creative, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
