Position Statement

The Assistant Chinese Banquet Chef supports the Chinese Banquet Chef in managing the Chinese Kitchen, ensuring the preparation and delivery of high‑quality dishes for banquet events and Chinese culinary operations. Culinary Operations & Food Quality

Team Leadership & Training

• Train and develop team members to ensure competency in their assigned roles.

• Lead daily briefings and team meetings when delegated, and in the absence of the Chinese Banquet Chef.

Menu Development & Collaboration

• Assist the Chinese Banquet Chef and Executive Chef in planning menus, seasonal specials, and promotional dishes.

• Liaise with the Chinese Banquet Chef or Executive Chef on operational challenges and ensure uninterrupted guest service.

• Support the creation and updating of recipes, costing sheets, and training materials.

Cost Control & Administration

• Help monitor food costs and minimise wastage to achieve profitability targets.

• Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and purchasing decisions for the Chinese Kitchen.

• Support the verification of timesheets, scheduling, and leave records to ensure operational coverage.

• Maintain updated recipe costing and assist in documenting operational changes.

Operational Support & Additional Responsibilities

• Oversee all Chinese banquet kitchen operations when the Chinese Banquet Chef is absent.

• Attend management and operational meetings as assigned.

• Support departmental initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement projects.

• Monitor and track students’ statuses of various Pre-Internship requirements suchas preparation of CVs, completion of Workplace Safety and Health module, submission of required documents for overseas internship.

Requirements:

• Familiar with Microsoft365 apps, Power apps, Power BI, AI/Gen AI tools, Power Automate.
• IT savvy, willing to learn to use new systems
• Good working knowledge of using MS Office, eg understand how to do mail mergein Word, at least Intermediate level for Excel, using Excel functions to do data checking and reporting, such as vlookup, if-else, left, right, pivot.
• Have some experience of customer relationship management, able to communicate well

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation and basic cooking duties
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen area
• Support chefs during service operations
• Wash, cut, and prepare ingredients as required
• Ensure proper storage of food and kitchen supplies
• Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen duties

Requirements

• Need Food Hygiene Certification.
• Prior kitchen or F&B experience in Western Restaurants  preferred
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Responsible, punctual, and a team player
• Willing to work weekends and public holidays
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
