About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our project team for a major building and infrastructure project located on Penang Island.

This is a site-based position. You will play an important role in coordinating construction activities and assisting in the successful delivery of the project in accordance with approved drawings, construction programme, quality requirements, and safety requirements.

This role requires close coordination with the management team, consultants, and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or other related construction / engineering disciplines.

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in building construction, infrastructure works, M&E works, site coordination, or project engineering.

• Experience in site coordination, subcontractor management, consultant coordination, drawing coordination, or construction progress follow-up.

• Experience in reviewing construction drawings / shop drawings, coordinating site works, preparing or assisting in method statements, and arranging site inspections will be an advantage.

• Familiar with construction processes, construction methods, building materials, site quality requirements, and safety management requirements.

• Candidates with experience in architectural, structural, and M&E coordination will be preferred.

• Able to work independently at site and coordinate effectively with management, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

• Good communication skills, strong sense of responsibility, and ability to solve site issues.

• Able to communicate in basic English, prepare reports, and handle project documents.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Candidate must be able to provide solution for QAQC matter and drive the result.
• Responsible for the supervision and monitoring of construction works in accordance with the contracts and construction drawings especially in respect of specifications, quality and time of completion.
• Accountable for the quality and workmanship of every activity, precise knowledge of all aspects of engineering construction and interfacing of the multidisciplinary processes
• Responsible for QA/QC documents of the complete project including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent materials delivered, and other important QA/QC documents.
• Develop and determine all standards to perform inspection and tests on all procedures and oversee all testing methods and maintain high standards of quality for all processes.
• To ensure that all materials delivered to site are conform to the approved specifications and the project's inspection test plan.
• To regularly report to relevant superiors on the progress of the works and the problem areas encountered especially in respect defective, outstanding or non-confirming works or delayed works.
• Upon completion of work, to carry out final inspections and handovers including ensuring that all as built drawings are prepared and a copy kept with relevant superiors prior to issuance of certificate of practical completion.
• To control all relevant project documents and data, prepare reports on progress, site activities and all other related matters.

• At least 3 years working experience in the related field required for this position.

•Assist in maintaining and complying with quality management systems (ISO9001 QMS) and established factory procedures.

•Partake in new product introduction (NPI) and transfer project qualification activities under guidance.

•Prepare Inspection Instructions, perform First Article Inspection (FAI), and support the compilation of PPAP packages and capability studies.

•Assist in regular internal quality audits and factory inspections; help compile failure analysis data and actively follow up with production teams on corrective/preventive action plans (8D reports).

•Connect and communicate daily with production lines and engineering teams to help troubleshoot and coordinate quality control best practices on the floor.

•Support the preparation of monthly quality performance reports for management review.

Job Requirements:

•Possess at least a diploma/bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical/electrical/mechatronics), technology, or a related field.

•Minimum 1 to 3 years of working experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality Control function within the manufacturing sector. Ambitious junior candidates with the right tech-savviness, outgoing attitude, and high mobility are highly encouraged to apply! Dedicated internal guidance will be provided.

•Solid basic knowledge or familiarity with QC Core Tools (PPAP, FAI, CPK, MSA, FMEA, Control Plan), Minitab/JMP, 8D report writing, and ability to comprehend GD&T part drawings.

•Must be fluent in English and Mandarin/Chinese (both spoken and written) to effectively present findings and lead smooth discussions with Chinese-speaking clients, stakeholders, and external parties.

•Highly outgoing, extroverted, and dynamic personality with exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

•High tolerance for ambiguity and an ever-changing environment; able to adapt instantly to a highly fluid, fast-paced, and high-pressure work rhythm.

•Strong critical sense of urgency and immediate responsiveness; must be comfortable and willing to attend to urgent customer complaints or critical quality issues outside of standard working hours (including weekends and public holidays) to ensure client satisfaction.

•Short notice period preferred; candidates who can commence work immediately or within 1–2 weeks will be given high priority.
