You will be part of a dynamic research team working on topics relevant to Electrification, Grids Testing and Certification based at the Electrification and Power Grids Centre (EPGC). The Testing & Certification team focuses on establishing capabilities and physical test setups to support emerging industry requirements for testing and verification of energy related applications such as energy storage systems (ESS), microgrid solutions, photovoltaic (PV) inverters, electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, and AI data centers.  This position is to recruit a member of the research team to work on a project on microgrid cybersecurity and digital twins.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will need to actively support R&D projects at EPGC in terms of project development, testing and verification/validation activities, test logistics planning/coordination, and sourcing and procurement.

• The role will include the following:

  • Assist in development of digital twins of power system networks, control/energy management systems and DERs such as ESS, PV and EV chargers.

  • Perform testing of microgrid solution and/or power system network using real-time simulation platform.

Job Description

The National Quantum Federated Foundry (NQFF) is seeking a research engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing essential quantum hardware and device components. The candidate will join our efforts spanning multiple quantum technology platforms ranging from trapped ions to integrated photonics and superconducting devices.

About the role

You will be embedded in a team of research scientists and engineers, contributing hands-on to the development and characterisation of quantum hardware. Based on your strengths and experience, your work will be shaped around one or more of the following focus areas:

• Device Fabrication & Engineering — Perform device fabrication and support the development and optimisation of the processes: this may include cleanroom-based nanofabrication work, electrical assembly (wirebonding, soldering, etc), and prototyping (machining, 3D printing, etc).
• Optical & Photonics Engineering — Perform optical & electrical characterization of photonics devices; construct and maintain optical measurement setups for device testing; data analysis and feedback towards improved device designs.
• Cryogenic Systems & Measurements — Set up, operate, and maintain cryogenic systems (incl. dilution refrigerators, cryostats); integrate and test quantum devices at (down to) millikelvin temperatures; develop automated testing workflows, acquire and analyse experimental data.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, material science & engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on laboratory experience relevant to one or more of the focus areas above
• Familiarity with experimental data acquisition, analysis, and presentation
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style

Experience in any of the following would set you apart:

• Optical setups and laser systems
• Electrical/RF electronics and associated test equipment
• Cleanroom nanofabrication
• Mechanical design with CAD software
• Programming (especially in Python) lab equipment for testing automation

About NQFF:

The National Quantum Federated Foundry (NQFF) is a national quantum programme supporting Singapore's quantum R&D ecosystem and industry partners. Functioning as a research foundry, NQFF covers the full device development cycle — from design to fabrication and characterisation — with the goal of translating next-generation quantum devices towards real-world applications.

NQFF is hosted at A*STAR IMRE, with teams operating across A*STAR IME and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Key Responsibilities

Operations and Programme Support

· Organise CPD activities to support the professional development of members

· Manage e-learning programmes and the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure accessibility, functionality, and relevance for members, including user management, content updates, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation with recommendations for improvement

· Assist in the on-site/virtual management of events, ensuring smooth delivery and quality control

· Coordinate logistics, including venue arrangements, technology setup, and participant registration

· Support marketing initiatives for programmes, including creating promotional materials and simple video editing using Canva

· Maintain accurate records, documentation and databases for programmes, including budget planning, tracking and procurement processes

· Prepare reports and statistics, including financial reports with basic analysis, to support decision-making and programme evaluation

· Collate and summarise programme feedback to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement

· Reply to queries from members and public on programme and accreditation matters

· Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures in all operational activities

· Perform other administrative tasks as assigned

Requirements

· Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline

· Fluent in written and spoken English

· At least 2 years of relevant work experience in professional development training, project and event management or related fields

· Resilient, detail-oriented, problem solver, and a proactive team player with a cheerful disposition who enjoys interacting with people

· Able to multi-task and independently accomplish assignments within lean timelines

· Able to work confidently with members of the Judiciary and legal community

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
