Summary
Support surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, maintaining strict sterility standards and assisting surgeons during procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures.
· Ensure all surgical instruments and consumables are available and sterilized.
· Check equipment (e.g., suction machines, lights, and diathermy machines) to ensure they are functioning properly.
· Prepare and position patients for surgery while ensuring comfort and safety.
· Maintain strict infection prevention and aseptic techniques.
· Conduct mandatory counts of surgical instruments, needles, and sponges before, during, and at the end of every procedure.
· Compiled with hospital policies and patient safety standards.
· Clean and prepare operating theatres between procedures.
· Safely handle contaminated wastes, clean instruments, and perform "terminal cleaning" of the OT suite. Assist with transferring patients to the recovery area.
Requirements :
· Possesses Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support or GCE N/O levels is usually preferred.
· 1to 3+ years of operating theatre or clinical setting experience is typically expected.
· Strong attention to detail, crisis management, physical stamina to stand for long periods, and the ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
